Chris Long Signs One-Year Deal With Eagles

Mar 28, 2017 12:41 PM

Chris Long has signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Long announced before the start of free agency that he wouldn't be returning to the New England Patriots.

Long totaled 35 tackles and four sacks in the regular season. In Super Bowl LI, he made the most of his 15 defensive snaps played, drawing a critical holding penalty that helped push the Falcons out of field goal range when they had been in position to kick a field goal late and possibly increase their lead to 11 points.

Eagles Cut Chase Daniel

The Philadelphia Eagles have released Chase Daniel.

In a related move, the Eagles signed Nick Foles to serve as Carson Wentz's backup at quarterback.

"Chase's professionalism and intelligence were valuable assets to our quarterback room," said Eagles executive VP of football operations Howie Roseman. "His veteran leadership was incredibly helpful in (quarterback Carson Wentz's) development as a rookie, and his familiarity with Coach (Doug) Pederson's offense was instrumental in installing our system last season."

Titans, Eagles Talking Brandin Cooks Trade With Saints

Mar 3, 2017 12:48 PM

The New Orleans Saints are considering a trade of Brandin Cooks with the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles involved in talks.

The Titans are considered the more likely suitor, per one source, but two other sources have conflicting opinions on which team is considered the favorite to acquire Cooks if the Saints trade him.

The Titans own the 18th overall pick and could deal that selection straight up for Cooks.

Sean Payton has shot down reports that Cooks could emerge in trade talks -- calling them "garbage" late last season and recently telling SiriusXM Radio that he "absolutely" anticipates Cooks will remain a Saint this year.

Cooks expressed frustration about his role last season. Cooks felt he was being used too often as a clear-out receiver.

Eagles Will Evaluate Jamaal Charles In Free Agency

Mar 2, 2017 7:38 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles want to add depth at running back and Jamaal Charles is a free agent.

"I've got some history with him in Kansas City for three years," Doug Pederson said. "I think he's a tremendous running back and it's something that we'll evaluate now. And we'll grade him just like we do every free agent and every person that's released and see where he can fit into our offense."

Charles played in just eight games the past two years and the Chiefs waived him with a failed physical designation this week.
