Jim Schwartz Considered Favorite For Giants' Head Coaching Job

Dec 31, 2017 10:38 AM

Jim Schwartz is considered the favorite to become the next head coach of the New York Giants.

The Giants fired Ben McAdoo after Week 13.

Schwartz is expected to interview next week while the Philadelphia Eagles are on a bye.

John Mara said the team wants to hire an experienced coach, and Schwartz would qualify. Schwartz was head coach of the Detroit Lions for five seasons.

In two seasons in Philadelphia, Schwartz has made significant strides with the Eagles' defense.

Infographic: Five Teams Rank In Top-10 In Offense, Defense DVOA

Dec 13, 2017 12:29 PM

The NFL has five teams ranking in the top-10 in DVOA on both Offense and Defense after Week 14. In an indication of how much turnover there's been in parts of the NFL, none of those five teams (Rams, Eagles, Vikings, Saints and Chargers) made the playoffs in 2016.

The Chiefs, Cowboys, Steelers, Falcons and Patriots also rank in the top-10 on offense, while the Jaguars, Broncos, Panthers, Ravens and Cardinals rank in the top-10 on defense.

The Seahawks, who have consistently been one of the NFL's top teams in DVOA during the Russell Wilson era, are just outside the top-10 in both categories.

Nick Foles: Eagles Won't Change Offense Without Carson Wentz

Dec 13, 2017 8:23 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have no plans to alter their offense in the wake of Carson Wentz's season-ending ACL injury.

Doug Pederson and Nick Foles have both declared that no radical changes will be made.

"We're going to run this offense," Foles said. "Nothing is going to change. ... I've always been a gunslinger, just let it rip. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to play loose, count on the guys, lead this team. There's no other place I'd rather be. That's why I came back here."

LeSean McCoy: Trade By Eagles 'Was Wrong, Weird'

Dec 11, 2017 8:53 AM

With LeSean McCoy on the verge of becoming the 30th player in NFL history to gain 10,000 yards rushing for his career, he was asked if he's happy to be in Buffalo and if there are still any hard feelings lingering over his trade by the Eagles.

Chip Kelly traded McCoy, a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the Bills in 2015.

“I am extremely happy I am here,” said McCoy. “Buffalo has embraced me and my family, and they love me here. I love that. But I can’t lie and say I don't love Philly. I do. That was my home. The trade was wrong, and it was weird.”

Dec 2, 2017 7:05 PM

Alshon Jeffery has signed a four-year, $52 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. Jeffery's contract includes $27 million in guaranteed money.

Jeffery signed a one-year deal with the Eagles this past offseason.

"First of all I just want to thank Jeffrey Lurie and the entire Eagles organization," Jeffery said a statement released by the team. "Like I said the other day, I love it here. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to play for this organization and for these fans. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and now I'm looking forward to being here for a long time. We have a great group here and I'm excited to be a part of it."

"Alshon has been a tremendous addition to this organization on and off the field," the Eagles added. "We place a priority on making sure we are able to build the team around quality players like Alshon who embrace this team and this city the way he has. We are excited about his future here."

Jeffery now ranks behind only DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant in guaranteed money among wide receivers.

Malcolm Jenkins Won't Protest After NFL's $89M Pledge

Dec 1, 2017 10:01 AM

Malcolm Jenkins doesn't plan to protest during the national anthem before Sunday night's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks.

Jenkins stated his intentions after the NFL and the Players Coalition, which Jenkins co-founded, joined in a partnership that calls for the league to contribute $89 million over seven years to projects dealing with criminal justice reform, law enforcement/community relations and education.

The safety has raised his fist during the anthem since Week 2 of the 2016 season.

"I know a lot of people have kind of made a big deal about the money that the league has proposed, but I'm more concerned and more interested in the platform they're proposing," he said. "The reason I started raising my fist in the first place is to draw awareness to injustices in this country, disenfranchised people of color. I wanted to draw awareness.

"And so I think what the league is proposing is a platform and a campaign similar to what they've done with breast cancer awareness, My Cause, My Cleats, Salute to Service, but hopefully in an even bigger manner.

"And if we're able to amplify our voices to showcase those causes, those issues, to highlight grass-roots organizations who are doing the work and need support, to tell the stories of those people who have been wronged or left out, I think that's even more valuable than the cash amount. So hopefully, in good faith, that gets built out."
