Sam Bradford Explains Why He Asked For Trade

May 19, 2016 8:28 PM

Sam Bradford shared a practice field with Carson Wentz for the first time on Tuesday.

Bradford also talked about the approach he took in requesting a trade.

"When I first found out about the trade," Bradford said, "I was frustrated. I needed some time. I could have stayed here, but I'm not sure my head would have been here."

Bradford sign a two-year contract with the Eagles in March believing he would have the chance to establish himself as the long-term quarterback.

"Obviously, there are no promises in this business," Bradford said. "It wasn't a long-term deal, it was a two-year deal. I was well aware of that. We talked about that.

"My thought was to play well over that two years and to create that stability that I've talked about pretty much my whole career. Philadelphia was the place that I wanted to be. I wanted to play well for the next two years, create that stability and then sign a longer-term deal and stay here, for the rest of my career."

Once the Eagles traded for Wentz, that became a near impossibility.

"My agent felt a trade was the way to get somewhere to create that stability, at a place where I could be entrenched long term," Bradford said. "He felt that was the best option."

Carson Wentz Not Anticipating Tension With Sam Bradford

May 13, 2016 9:32 PM

Carson Wentz is not expecting an awkward relationship with Sam Bradford, incumbent starter for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Personally, I don't think there will be a lot of tension. People might make it out to be but the coaches and everybody will be on the same page and I think it will be a really good working relationship for sure."

Wentz added: "It is what it is, honestly. Like I've been saying all along, it's out of my control. People want to make it a big situation, but like I said earlier, we'll have a really good working relationship and I think it will benefit the team because we are going to compete, and really everybody in that quarterback room and in the entire organization is going to compete and push each other, so I think it will only benefit the team."

The Eagles traded up to No. 2 to select Wentz.

Wentz gives the Eagles a big-bodied and strong-armed passer with plus mobility.

One scout said: "I see everything. Arm strength. Accuracy. Toughness. Athletic ability. Smart. Great kid."

Said another scout: "He's a genius, Wentz is. He could be really good. He's the best runner, he's the best athlete. He is off the charts."

Broncos, Eagles Unable To Agree Upon Sam Bradford Trade Terms

May 12, 2016 11:19 AM

The Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles discussed a Sam Bradford trade but were unable to agree upon terms.

"We thought we had a chance to go to a really good football team and be there for a long time," agent Bob Condon explained. "And that opportunity was there and actually the attempt was made.

"When the Broncos contacted the Eagles and talked about the trade, they couldn't agree on the price and so they drafted somebody in the first round," Condon continued. "Now, at that point, our options are pretty limited. So our next best option is to go back and prepare for the season."

The Broncos also acquired Mark Sanchez in the offseason.

Denver ultimately traded up for Paxton Lynch in the draft.

Sam Bradford Rescinds Trade Request, Rejoins Eagles

May 10, 2016 9:36 AM

Sam Bradford has rescinded his trade demand and rejoined the Philadelphia Eagles are a two-week absence.

Bradford began his holdout after the Eagles traded up for the No. 2 pick in last month's draft and made no secret of their intention to select a quarterback. The Eagles drafted North Dakota State's Carson Wentz less than two months after signing Bradford to a two-year, $35 million contract.

All of the time Bradford missed was voluntary under the NFL's collective bargaining agreement.

Doug Pederson has said that Bradford is the team's starting quarterback for 2016.

Carson Wentz Has Studied Brady, Rodgers, Not Much Bradford

May 2, 2016 7:19 PM

Carson Wentz was asked if he's seen a lot of Sam Bradford on film.

"Yeah I've seen him play a little bit. I obviously know he was a top pick and everything. Not too many years ago," Wentz said. "Obviously I know he was with the Rams and everything and now here I haven't watched a ton of film on him. I watch film on guys like Brady and Manning and Rodgers and those type of things.

"So I don't know as much as some of those other guys."

Wentz will compete with Bradford to be starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles if the veteran quarterback isn't traded.
