Eagles Take Carson Wentz, Say Sam Bradford Is 'Our Quarterback'

Apr 30, 2016 9:58 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles insist Sam Bradford is their quarterback despite drafting Carson Wentz second overall on Thursday night.

"Sam's our quarterback," Howie Roseman said. "We've been clear about that."

The Eagles made a total of three trades to move up from No. 13 overall to second, putting them in position to take a quarterback. The team was informed that Bradford wanted to be traded and would not participate in organized team activities in May.

"Sam is the leader of this football team," coach Doug Pederson said. "He's the quarterback. I've said all along that he's the quarterback. He's the guy we want leading this charge. When he comes back, he's welcome with open arms."

Carson Wentz On Sam Bradford Situation: 'We'll See What Happens'

Apr 28, 2016 8:51 AM

Things could become awkward in Philadelphia soon with the Eagles having traded up for the No. 2 pick, presumably to draft Carson Wentz, and Sam Bradford subsequently requesting a trade.

"I don't really know what to make of that, it's not for me to make any ... yeah, we'll see what happens," Wentz said when asked about the situation.

Wentz said he has not talked to the Eagles since they made the trade for the No. 2 overall pick.

Agent: Sam Bradford Wants To Be Where 'He's The Man'

Apr 28, 2016 8:54 AM

Tom Condon confirmed on Monday night that his client, Sam Bradford, will sit out voluntary workouts and is seeking a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Sam's only been in the league for six years and he wants to go some place and be there and know that he's going to stay as long as he plays well, and his situation now in Philadelphia is different," Condon told SiriusXM NFL Radio.

"Sam's a competitor and he wants to go some place and know he's the man. He just doesn't want to be there holding the place card and then wondering where's he's going to go at the end of the year."

Bradford signed a two-year, $36 million deal with the Eagles on March 1, but the club signed Chase Daniel soon after and traded up with the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 overall pick in this week's NFL draft.

Sam Bradford will skip the Philadelphia Eagles' offseason training program from here on out in an effort to get himself traded.

The request to be traded has "blindsided" the Eagles, according to a report.

Philadelphia still views Bradford as their starting quarterback despite trading up for the No. 2 pick last week.

Howie Roseman Previously Talked About Poor Results Of Trading Up

Apr 21, 2016 1:39 PM

A year ago, Howie Roseman talked about how the history of teams trading up for one player is not favorable while speaking at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference.

Roseman was being asked the question in light of their interest at the time in trading up for Marcus Mariota.

"When you’re looking at trading up, at some point, your board drops off so dramatically in terms of how you evaluate that player,” Roseman said, as heard on the conference’s webcast. “But the history of trading up for one player, when you look at those trades, isn’t good for the team trading up and putting a lot of resources into it.

"Because the guys who are really good at the draft, if you’re hitting on 60 percent of your first-round picks, that’s a pretty good track record. And then it’s dropping as you go through the rounds. So really, the more chances you get, the more tickets to the lottery you get, the better you should be doing.”

The Eagles traded up this week from No. 8 to No. 2.

Sam Bradford 'Wants To Show Everyone Who's Best' After Eagles Trade Up

Apr 20, 2016 6:45 PM

Sam Bradford is not happy with the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to trade up in the 2016 NFL Draft to No. 2.

The Eagles are widely expected to take a quarterback with the selection.

"He’s hot,” said one source. “Who wouldn’t be? This is Philly saying, ‘We don’t see (you) as long-term answer.’ He’s mad and wants to show everyone who’s best.’’

Bradford signed a new two-year deal in the offseason.

Eagles Trade Up To No. 2 With Browns

Apr 21, 2016 11:35 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade up to the second overall pick in a deal with the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns will move back to No. 8 overall while also acquiring the Eagles' third rounder and fourth rounder this season along with their 2017 first round pick and their 2018 second round pick.

The Eagles acquire the Browns' 2017 fourth round pick in addition to the second overall pick this season.

Philadelphia will presumably pick whichever quarterback the Los Angeles Rams don't select at No. 1 between Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

The Eagles signed Sam Bradford to a two-year, $36 million deal on March 1st and also have Chase Daniel on a three-year, $21 million deal.

LeSean McCoy Won't Be Charged For Feb. 7th Nightclub Fight

Apr 5, 2016 1:37 PM

LeSean McCoy will not be charged for his alleged role in a nightclub fight with off-duty Philadelphia police officers on Feb. 7th.

Although McCoy reportedly won't be charged, the NFL will conduct its own investigation into the incident and still could discipline him.

The Philadelphia police department confirmed Feb. 9, after turning the case over to the DA's office, that it did not interview McCoy or the three other suspects in a bar fight that led to two off-duty police officers being treated for injuries.

The DA's office has faced criticism over the perceived slow pace of its investigation.
