LeSean McCoy 'Embarrassed' By Week 4 Performance

Nov 2, 2014 10:58 PM

LeSean McCoy continued his slow start to the 2014 season, rushing 17 times for just 10 yards in the Philadelphia Eagles' 26-21 loss in Week 4 to the San Francisco 49ers.

“It sucks,” McCoy said. “I thought we were going to win this game. There are so many plays that we could have made, but we didn’t. I thought we were going to pull it off like usual, especially getting down there at the 2-yard line.”

“We are not getting it done,” McCoy said. “Not executing. We will watch this tape and learn from this and move on.”

McCoy said he was “embarrassed” and said he didn’t want to discuss the running game.

Asked if he was healthy, McCoy gave a curious answer.

“I doesn’t matter,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if I’m healthy or not. We have to win games. I am fine.”

McCoy Doesn't Believe He's Struggling In 2014

Nov 26, 2014 3:07 PM

LeSean McCoy has just 175 yards on 60 rushes this season after finishing 2013 with 1,607 yards and citing a goal of 2,000 before the season started.

"I don't think I'm struggling at all," McCoy told CSNPhilly.com. "I don't know what you mean by that. I don't think I'm struggling, at all. So I don't know what you mean by that."

"I think it's different how they're playing us this year," Chip Kelly told reporters. "We've seen different looks in terms of the three games we've played this year compared to last year. I think LeSean's doing everything possible. Again, if that's how you're going to do it, and we're going to end up with 30-whatever points a game and continue to be productive on the offensive side of the ball, it's ultimately that. But also you're down four linemen that you had that were running in front of him last year, too. So I think sometimes when we're running the play, there is a lot better push at the point of attack, and that doesn't have anything to do with the running back from that standpoint. It's kind of what it is right now."

Chip Kelly, Greg Roman Shared Ideas In 2011, 2012

Oct 31, 2014 5:52 PM

Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman competed against Chip Kelly while they were in the Pac-12 and again in the NFL, but they shared ideas after the former two were hired by the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers host the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.

“(They’re) two guys I have great respect for,” said Kelly, the former Oregon coach, in a conference call Wednesday morning with Bay Area reporters.

“Greg has come up to visit when I was at Oregon and when they went to the 49ers. Obviously, when he was at Stanford and I was at Oregon, we didn’t share any notes on anything. But when they got to the League, Greg came up once and visited with us. And we shared ideas. And I had an opportunity during an open date when I was at Oregon in-season (2012) to go down and visit with those guys. Two guys I have great, great respect for -- two really good football coaches.”

The 49ers are using more wide receivers this season.

“They’re a little bit more exotic than they were even at Stanford,” Kelly said. “I think maybe because they have more time with their players, and they got smart players on the offensive side of the ball. I’ve had a lot of respect for Jimmy and Greg Roman going against them because they can scheme up the run game as good as anyone I’ve ever seen.”

Chip Kelly Cut DeSean Jackson Because Of Size, Not Off-Field Issues

Sep 22, 2014 12:36 AM

Chip Kelly claims DeSean Jackson's off-field issues were not a factor in the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to release him last offseason.

Jackson reportedly had ties to gangs in the Los Angeles area.

“Yeah, just trying to build the overall team in terms of what we’re looking for offensively and how we wanted to get bigger at the wideout spot and that’s what we did,” Kelly said.

Jackson was the Eagles' most productive wide receiver in 2013, catching 82 balls for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns.

One of the ways the Eagles replaced Jackson's playmaking ability was to trade for Darren Sproles, who is leading the club in catches and receiving yards.

Texans Targeted Matt Barkley Before Trading For Mallett

Nov 10, 2014 5:55 AM

The Houston Texans targeted Matt Barkley before moving forward with the New England Patriots on a trade for Ryan Mallett.

Barkley is one of the backup quarterbacks on the Philadelphia Eagles along with Mark Sanchez.

Chip Kelly has appeared to want as many quarterbacks as possible to protect against injury.
