The Philadelphia Eagles will start Nick Foles moving forward, a decision that has appeared obvious for weeks.

Chip Kelly had been waiting on anointing Foles as the starter indefinitely until Michael Vick was healthy again.

Foles has completed 63.6 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and no interceptions this season.

Michael Vick endorsed Nick Foles to remain as starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles even after he is fully healed from his injured hamstring.

Vick came to Foles' side even before Chip Kelly, Pat Shurmur and Howie Roseman.

“In all honesty, in all fairness, how can you take a guy out of the game who’s been playing so well?” Vick said.

“I’ve been in this stage before, and I know what it’s like. I understand the position that this team is in, and the one thing I never want to do is be a distraction or put our team or our coaches in a position where they feel like they’re not doing the right thing or I feel like they’re not doing the right thing.

“I trust what’s going on, I enjoy being a part of it, I love the game of football in general. So it’s important to me to be there in support and be ready if my name and number is called again.”

The effectiveness of Chip Kelly's offense has been rather impressive this season.

Nick Foles and Marcus Mariota have combined for 38 touchdowns against zero interceptions this season.

Foles took over for Michael Vick after an injury.

Kelly left Oregon last season to become head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles will sign Brad Smith after he was released from the Buffalo Bills' injured reserve list a week ago.

Smith missed the first 10 weeks of the season with a rib injury sustained during the preseason.

Smith gives the Eagles another receiver and he can also run the Wildcat formation.

Michael Vick remains limited in practice and is still not able to do 7-on-7 work.

Nick Foles will remain the starter with Matt Barkley as the backup.

Chip Kelly indicated that Vick isn't close to returning.

Nick Foles has 13 touchdowns and no interceptions this season while completing 63 percent of his pass attempts.

“I have 100 percent confidence I can run this offense and run it at a high level,’’ Foles said.

The Philadelphia Eagles are determined to figure out who is their quarterback of the future this offseason.

Nick Foles threw for seven touchdowns completing 22 of his 28 passes for 406 yards.

There are five other quarterbacks who have thrown for seven touchdowns in a game, most recently Peyton Manning on opening night.

Foles threw three touchdown passes to Riley Cooper.

The Philadelphia Eagles are determined to find a solution at quarterback long-term.

"We need someone to step up, whether it's an existing young quarterback or somebody we go out and acquire," owner Jeffrey Lurie told Geoff Mosher of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia this week. "We know -- this is no secret -- quarterback is the (ultimate) position and the most important difference-maker."

The Eagles have Michael Vick, Nick Foles and Matt Barkley under contract.
