Could Panthers Use Asante Samuel?

Oct 28, 2014 1:16 PM

The Panthers will show interest in veteran cornerback Asante Samuel if the Eagles make him available, according to a source. However, Samuel's big contract would be a stumbling block in a potential trade with the Panthers, who committed more than $272 million last week to five of their core players. The Panthers likely would need Samuel to restructure his contract.

Asomugha: Eagles Have 'Championship Feel'

Oct 31, 2014 6:15 AM

Nnamdi Asomugha, who says his agreement with the Eagles came quickly, believes Philadelphia has a "championship feel." "The Eagles never seemed to be in it," the cornerback said. "Everything came really quickly, and when the Eagles expressed interest and came so aggressive and said, 'We have a chance; we want this. Let's do it,' it didn't have to go much further. "When a team wants you, you can feel it. And when you feel that match, I don't think you can shy away from that." A three-time Pro Bowl pick during his eight years with the Raiders, Asomugha signed a deal worth $60 million over five years. "From top to bottom, the organization is first class with the head coach, the president, the GM, the owner, all the way down to the players," Asomugha said. "It has a championship feel to it."

Eagles Trade Bunkley To Browns For Pick

May 17, 2014 9:51 PM

The Eagles have traded defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to the Browns for a fifth-round pick next spring. Philadelphia drafted Buckley with the 14th overall pick back in 2006. The Eagles' acquisition of free agent defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins made Bunkley expendable and he will compete for a starting spot in Cleveland.

Samuel Doesn't Want Trade; Eagles Fielding Calls

Sep 1, 2014 1:21 PM

Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel hopes to remain with the team, but the team is open to fielding calls for him at the very least. Samuel is rumored to be on the block after the blockbuster acquisition that netted Philadelphia Nnamdi Asomugha on Friday and the trade that brought over Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the day before. "Asante is still an Eagle," agent Alonzo Shavers said. "I do not want anyone to get confused because he's been absent. The Eagles obviously went out an wanted to get a big name in Nnamdi. But we'll see how things go when Asante gets into camp and practices."

Eagles Weighting Samuel's Future

May 29, 2014 7:33 PM

Having signed top free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha on Friday, the Eagles appear to be weighing Asante Samuel's future with the team. In addition to adding Asomugha, Philadelphia acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in a trade with Arizona on Thursday. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman coach Andy Reid danced around Samuel's future in a press conference on Friday night. Here's what Roseman said when asked if he expects all three corners to still be Eagles on opening day: "We're excited to get Nnamdi, and we thought it was a great opportunity for our football team."

Kolb: Being In Arizona 'Feels Right'

May 20, 2014 3:03 AM

Kevin Kolb, introduced as a member of the Cardinals on Friday, said that landing in Arizona "feels right." "You just know when something feels right and this one feels right," he said, "all the way from flying in, driving through town, getting here to the facility, talking with everybody, meeting the players, it feels really good." The Cardinals sent cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 second-round draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Kolb in a deal reached on Wednesday. Kolb also has agreed to a five-year contract worth just under $64 million, with $21 million guaranteed. He traced his interest in playing for Arizona to the NFC championship game in the 2008 season, when he watched from the Eagles sidelines as the Cardinals won 32-25. "I just kind of always marked this one down as one of my favorites," Kolb said, "kept it in the back of my mind."
