Cardinals Still Have Questions About Kolb

May 16, 2014 10:15 PM

The Cardinals are very much in need of a quarterback, but they still have questions about acquiring Kevin Kolb from the Eagles. The rumor is that Kolb is "likely headed" to the Cardinals "probably for a couple of second-round draft picks" once the lockout is lifted, but that "there are still some concerns about Kolb among Arizona coaches." "They wonder about his decision-making" and if he's "the right fit for coach Ken Whisenhunt's offense," according to Scout.com.

Kolb Won't Cause Problems If Eagles Don't Trade Him

Jul 2, 2014 6:05 AM

Kevin Kolb wants the Eagles to trade him, but he won't cause problems if a deal isn't worked out. "If the situation (being the Eagles' backup) can't be avoided, I'm not going to sit there and be a turd," Kolb told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "That's not my style. I think that I've voiced my opinion, and there's nothing more I can do. Just like always, whatever situation arises, I'll just have to roll with the punches." Kolb lost his job as the Eagles' starter last September when he was outplayed by Vick. At 26, he said it's "a big deal" for him to have an opportunity to start somewhere.

Vick Dogfighting Compound Bought

Oct 15, 2014 12:52 PM

An animal rights group bought Michael Vick's former dogfighting compound on Friday and plans to turn it into a rehabilitation center for chained and penned dogs. Vick pleaded guilty to federal felony charges and served 18 months in prison for running Bad Newz Kennels from the property in Norfolk, Virginia. Dogs Deserve Better of Tipton, Pa., bought the five bedroom home for about $600,000. "I think by us overtaking this property we are winning for the dogs. We are, in essence, giving this property back to the dogs that were abused there by using it to help other dogs just like them," said Tamira Thayne, the group's founder.

Vick: Eagles Should 'Absolutely' Give Burress A Chance

Sep 30, 2014 11:28 PM

Michael Vick is OK with the possibility of the Eagles giving wide receiver Plaxico Burress a second chance. The New York Daily News reported Saturday that the Eagles are interested in Burress, who's scheduled to be released from prison June 6 after serving 20 months on weapons charges. If the team can sign the wide receiver, Vick said, it "absolutely" would be a good move. "I think with the guys we have now, I think we can fit him in and we can make it work," Vick said Monday on WIP-AM. "Obviously the ultimate goal at the end of the day is to put that ring on your finger at the end of the year. "I think certainly Plaxico is going to come out with a chip on his shoulder the same way I did, and he'll go out and help this football team to whatever capacity he can," added Vick, who's from the same area of Virginia as Burress and knows his family and friends. "I think the guys would embrace him and bring him in. If that happens, who knows? We talking about 'what ifs' now? It would certainly be a good thing."

Cleveland A Potential Destination For Kolb?

Oct 1, 2014 1:25 PM

Michael Lombardi of NFL.com writes that Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb could potentially end up in Cleveland with the Browns. Kolb has already been linked to the Cardinals, Seahawks and the 49ers this offseason even though trades can't currently be completed or even discussed during the lockout. "I'm not buying the Colt McCoy love affair going on in Cleveland," Lombardi said Thursday on KTAR-AM in Phoenix. "I don't know how you can have the love affair. I know he's played well, but they managed him in the game, and there were some moments where he really didn't play as well." The Plain Dealer later cited a league source in reporting that the Browns won't pursue Kolb, but Lombardi pointed out Thursday that the team has plenty of draft picks. "It's hard to watch tape on Kevin Kolb and think he's worth a first-round pick," Lombardi said. "So it's going to require somebody selling him in the building, and somebody has to know him."

Vick Leads Practice Session Outside Philly

Oct 14, 2014 9:37 AM

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick led several of his teammates and locally-based NFL players Thursday at a workout in New Jersey. Vick said last week that he expected around 15 players at the practice, though it appeared that the group that showed up was smaller. Eagles tight end Brent Celek, wide receivers Jason Avant and Jeremy Maclin and Vikings running back Albert Young were on hand for the session. "The one thing that we do know is that we're professional athletes and we can't sit around and not do anything," Vick said. "The speed of this game, the toughness that you have to have and bring in to each and every week has to start from somewhere."

Reid: No Deal In Place To Trade Kolb

Jul 10, 2014 5:43 PM

The Eagles don't have a trade in place to move quarterback Kevin Kolb, according to head coach Andy Reid. Reid told Comcast SportsNet's Daily News Live that as he understood pre-lockout offseason rules, "you weren't supposed to finalize any deals and even get into that type of talk about deals." That included the one-day window (April 29) when the league was ordered open for business by a Minnesota judge. Reid, as he has said many times since the season ended, confirmed that several teams have kicked the tires on Kolb. "You don't know how serious they are, because in the National Football League, nothing happens until it has to happen," Reid said. "You have an idea of who's interested in quarterbacks ... but you couldn't do any deals then. You never got to that point where it's real serious; it was too far in advance. "And you can't talk at all now. So, if he ends up going somewhere, more power to him, he deserves that opportunity. But I also like him here."
