Rob Ryan: 'I Got Out-Coached, Out-Everything'

May 18, 2014 4:46 AM

Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan admitted following the team's 34-7 loss to the Eagles on Sunday night that he was outcoached. Ryan's comments referring to Philadelphia as the "all-hype team" prior to the season made headlines leading up to Sunday's game. "It's not the first time I've said something and gotten my butt kicked," Ryan said afterwards. "I got out-coached, out-everything. "It's all on me." Michael Vick said those comments were in the back of everyone's minds but termed it a "non-issue" in Sunday's victory.

"It's important you have the right attitude to correct mistakes. We'll continue to do that. We've got plenty of room to improve."

Jerry Jones Looks To Make Statement Against Eagles

Oct 8, 2014 12:45 PM

The 2011 season isn't quite at the halfway point, but Sunday night's game between the Eagles and Cowboys in Philadelphia carries great meaning. The Eagles are 2-4 and badly in need of a win, while the Cowboys feel they can make a statement with a victory. Jerry Jones told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that this game has been circled on the calendar since training camp. Jones added that he sees it as a significant opportunity to make a statement about who the Cowboys are as a football team.

DeSean Jackson Fires Back At Rob Ryan For 'All-Hype Team' Comments

Oct 8, 2014 12:46 PM

Reminded of comments made prior to the season by Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, DeSean Jackson has fired back. Philadelphia and Dallas will play each on Sunday night. "For a coach to really say that it's hard for me to kind of respect that because the coach isn't really out there playing," Jackson said. "He's doing a good job of calling the plays and putting his defense in the right position to stop the offense but as far as the defensive coordinator's comments ... it's kind of unheard of, uncalled for." Jackson added that he would be more understanding if such talk came from a player "so I would be able to get a chance to get a shot at that player who said something."

Asante Samuel Rips Eagles' Front-Office

Oct 11, 2014 2:09 AM

Unhappy he was trade bait, Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel criticized management and compared the team’s front-office to people who play fantasy football. “Couple people upstairs might not want me, but who cares. They’ve probably never played football,” Samuel said Wednesday. “It’s a business and they run it like a business and they’re going to do what they need to do. They’re playing with a lot of money, playing fantasy football, doing their thing.” Asked if he was referring to GM Howie Roseman and president Joe Banner, Samuel replied: “Howie and Joe? I don’t know, do they fit the comment I made? “There ya go. You think they’re upstairs playing fantasy football with the owner’s money?”

Samuel: It's Clear Eagles 'Don't Want Me'

Oct 11, 2014 5:18 AM

The Eagles didn't hide the fact that they were open to trading cornerback Asante Samuel prior to this week's trade deadline. Philadelphia didn't move Samuel, but the idea doesn't sit well with Samuel. "I've been nothing but what they expected me to be when they brought me there," Samuel told ESPN 950-AM. "You know, 22, 23 interceptions over my years. Broke playoff records. So, definitely, it doesn't sit well with me. And obviously they don't want me there, so life goes on. So we'll see where I'll be at, ya know?" The Eagles signed Samuel to a six-year contract on the first day of free agency in 2008, meaning he's signed through 2013. "Well, as long as I'm getting paid I'm gonna do my job ... so whoever [is] cutting the check, I do my job ... So I'm not worried about that," Samuel said. "I just know in the back of my head they don't want me there. So, you know, that's not gonna leave. And that's obviously, they put it out there so everybody could know that, so I know that and everybody knows that."

Source: Jerome Harrison Has Brain Tumor

Oct 17, 2014 12:12 AM

As Eagles doctors were giving newly acquired running back Jerome Harrison his physical, they discovered a brain tumor that nullified a trade with the Lions, according to two league sources. The trade might have actually saved Harrison's life, the sources said. Without the deal being made, Harrison would not have undergone a physical. The tumor is now being treated, according to sources. Harrison could not be reached for comment. The Eagles would have sent Ronnie Brown to the Lions in exchange for Harrison and an undisclosed pick in the 2013 NFL draft. Harrison is not expected to play again this season, but his long-term prognosis both for life and his football career appear to be good, sources said.
