Nov 11, 2014 7:31 AM

Several outlets have reported that Packers secondary coach Darren Perry is Philadelphia's top choice to fill their defensive coordinator position. Akers Reveals Daughter Battling Cancer

Nov 2, 2014 10:30 AM

A teammate hinted earlier this month that kicker David Akers was dealing with some personal issues around the time of Philadelphia's playoff loss to Green Bay. His agent, Jerrold Colton, said it was a "private family health concern." Akers had been quiet on the situation until telling the Philadelphia Inquirer that his 6-year-old daughter, Halley, had a malignant cyst in her left ovary that was removed in the week after the game. "They used the word tumor or cyst or growth," Akers said. "And you're like, 'OK, what does that mean?' Cancer is what that means." The kicker's wife, Erika, told the newspaper that she could tell from her seat in the stands at Lincoln Financial Field that her husband's mind wasn't solely on the game against the Packers. "I could tell he was there doing his job," she told the newspaper. "But he wasn't there."

Eagles Will Listen To Offers For Kolb

Oct 29, 2014 4:35 AM

The Eagles are expected to entertain offers for Kevin Kolb, who should generate significant interest this offseason. Kolb is under contract for 2011 at the cap-friendly price of $1.4 million, making him an even more desirable commodity. A number of teams coveted Kolb last offseason, but the Eagles went into the 2010 season with him as their starting quarterback. Kolb said after the season that he wants "to be starting somewhere" in 2011.

Eagles To Use Tag On Vick

Sep 14, 2014 1:01 AM

The Eagles will place their franchise tag on Michael Vick next month, according to a source. The move will prevent the quarterback from leaving Philadelphia and ensure he remains with the team through the 2011 season. He set career highs in yards passing (3,018), touchdowns passing (21), touchdowns rushing (9), completion percentage (62.6) and passer rating (100.2) this past season.

Akers Not Concerned About Past, Future

Nov 2, 2014 11:48 AM

Longtime Eagles kicker David Akers isn't worried about his past or future with the franchise. Akers, who missed two field goals in Philadelphia's playoff loss to Green Bay, will be an unrestricted free agent. "You can't hold on to those [misses]," he said. "You always are as good as your last kick. I hope to be back to make more kicks and give everyone some made kicks to remember instead of those. More positive kicks," Akers said. "Some of that's not up to me. I would love nothing more than to be back with the Eagles. But, as we all know, this is a business."

Franchise Tag Likely To Be Available For Philadelphia To Use On Vick

Jul 19, 2014 7:16 AM

The Eagles should be free to use their franchise tag on Michael Vick, despite labor uncertainty. "I expect the franchise tag to continue to operate as it has in prior seasons and clubs to be permitted to exercise their rights under the tag," Jeff Pash, the NFL's general counsel, said Thursday. The Eagles and Vick have had casual discussions about such a deal, a source close to the situation said. Philadelphia is unlikely to want to bring Vick back on a short-term contract.

Fisher Not Coming To Eagles As Defensive Coordinator

Nov 2, 2014 11:51 AM

ESPN reported that Eagles coach Andy Reid had informed candidates that the vacancy at coordinator had been filled. "Do not be surprised if Jeff Fisher winds up as the defensive coordinator in Philadelphia," the network's John Clayton said. League sources said those statements were not true. Fisher was the Eagles' defensive coordinator from 1988 to 1990 and was their secondary coach for two seasons before that.

Boise State wide receiver Titus Young has been compared to Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. "Titus Young does look to me like DeSean Jackson looked to me when he came out of Cal," NFL analyst Mike Mayock said Thursday. "I see a kid there that physically has helped himself. Teams are going to have to do a lot more homework on him off the field."
