Surveillance Video Said To Dispute Vick's Story

Nov 8, 2014 2:43 AM

A spokesman for the Virginia Beach restaurant where a birthday party was held for Michael Vick said the establishment has surveillance video that conflicts with the account of Vick's attorney of the moments before a shooting early Friday morning. A man identified in media reports as Quanis Phillips was shot in the leg as the party was breaking up. Attorney Larry Woodward has said Vick was gone long before the shooting. "I'm not saying that Michael Vick did the shooting. But he did not leave [long] before," spokesman Allen Fabijan said.

Michael Vick spoke with authorities Monday regarding a shooting last week that involved one of the quarterbacks longtime friends. Vick called police and answered questions about the night in question, which started with his birthday party, his attorney told The Virginian-Pilot. "Michael voluntarily cooperated with the investigation, went in on his own and answered all the police detective's questions," attorney Lawrence H. Woodward said.

NFL 'Still Gathering' Facts About Shooting Outside Party For Vick

Jul 6, 2014 11:29 AM

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL is "still gathering the facts" about a shooting outside a birthday party thrown last Thursday for Michael Vick. Goodell said the league was told by law enforcement that Vick "is not a focus" of an ongoing police investigation in Virginia Beach. Quanis Phillips, who was a co-defendant in the dog-fighting case that caused Vick's 1?-year incarceration, was hospitalized after a confrontation. Vick could be in violation of his probation and terms of his NFL reinstatement if found to once again be associating with Phillips. "Obviously, we've got to look and see whether there was any violation of policy," Goodell said.

Vick Co-Defendant Shot At QB's Party

Jul 6, 2014 11:33 AM

A co-defendant in Michael Vick's dogfighting case whom the Eagles quarterback was barred from associating with was shot late Thursday night outside a club that had been hosting a birthday party for Vick. Vick, who turns 30 on Saturday, was neither involved nor present at a Virginia Beach, Va., nightclub when Quanis Phillips was shot. "We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia early this morning and are in the process of gathering all of the facts," the Eagles said in a statement. "Until then, we will not have any comment on this matter."

McNabb Says Eagles Will Have Critics

Oct 1, 2014 5:09 AM

Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb says the young players on his former team, the Eagles, will face criticism this season. "It not only happens with me. It happens with Peyton [Manning]. It happens with Tom [Brady]. It happens with everybody. When you're the older guy, everybody talks about you. When you win, everybody talks about you. When you lose, everybody talks about you," McNabb said. "And some young guys always want to get the credit -- until they get in the shoes where they're the ones getting the criticism. Then all of a sudden, people don't like the criticism. I can handle that; some people can't. Until they get hit with that type of buzz, then they'll realize the shoes that I was in. But, from afar, everybody wants to be who you are." McNabb was back in the Philadelphia area Saturday hosting a football clinic for 320 kids.

Vick Practices Wildcat After Month Of West Coast

Nov 8, 2014 4:05 PM

Michael Vick, who has spent the last month mostly under center learning the finer points of the Eagles' West Coast offense, said that returning to the "Spread Eagle" package didn't take much adjustment. "It's not really odd," Vick said Tuesday at the NovaCare Complex. "This is my role and this is what I'm going to be doing pretty much the majority of the season. Who knows, the role could expand a little bit, but if this is what it's going to be, then I'm going to have fun doing it." The Eagles have spent part of this week's workouts practicing against scout team versions of their NFC East opponents. Vick could continue to run the Wildcat, but he also is the back-up quarterback behind Kevin Kolb. "I know I can run the offense if anything were to happen to Kevin," Vick said. "God forbid."

Jackson Misses Eagles' OTAs, Reason Unknown

Sep 12, 2014 5:19 PM

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson wasn't present for the start of the team's OTAs this season for unknown reasons. The team didn't appear concerned. A source close to Jackson said he's in Atlanta hanging out with Hawks forward Josh Smith and that he plans to spend the remainder of the week at home in Los Angeles. He will then return to Philadelphia next week. "I haven't talked to him. There's no cause [for alarm] as far as I know," quarterback Kevin Kolb said. "We worked together a lot, we did a lot in the offseason before minicamps or anything ever started. So we've gotten a lot of work in, and we look forward to obviously working together and getting better in the future."

Marlin Jackson Ruptures Achilles Tendon

Sep 4, 2014 5:04 AM

Marlin Jackson left practice Tuesday with a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right leg, the Philadelphia Eagles announced, leaving the team even thinner at free safety. Jackson, who signed a two-year contract with the Eagles as a free agent, is coming off two season-ending knee injuries he sustained with the Indianapolis Colts. He missed the second half of 2008 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and returned in 2009 before tearing the ACL in his left knee during a November practice.
