Mike Kafka is attempting to become Philadelphia's third-string quarterback. His work ethic and focus on the finer points of NFL passing have impressed starter Kevin Kolb.
"The thing that I love is his attention to detail. As a great quarterback, you have to have that. And he's hard on himself. He's self-motivated," Kevin Kolb said. "When he gets asked a question, he doesn't have an excuse. He says, 'I missed it. It's my fault,' and you can see the next time he doesn't miss it. A lot of guys aren't like that."
Kafka, a fourth-round draft pick out of Northwestern in April, would sit behind Kolb and Michael Vick on the depth chart, so it's unlikely he'll see playing time in 2010.

Vick Vows To Be Starter Once Again
Michael Vick isn't content being Kevin Kolb's backup in Philadelphia.
"Being a competitor, you always want to start," Vick told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I know in my future that's there for me. I'll be a starter in this league again. Right now, I'm just having fun honing my skills.
"You're going to have an opportunity to be a starter. And I'll say, 'OK, I'm going to go back to the drawing board and work on a lot of things that I didn't have a chance to work on because I was forced into action so fast.' I have to work on those things, and when I get back to doing them, I'm going to be dangerous. That's all I can say -- I'll be dangerous."
Vick hoped the Eagles would trade him this offseason, but a lack of interest has kept him with the team.
McNabb Apologizes For Not Winning Super Bowl
Donovan McNabb has apologized to the city of Philadelphia and Eagles fans for not bringing the team a Super Bowl.
The Eagles traded their long-time quarterback to the Redskins last month.
"I look back -- the things that I set out that I wanted to accomplish and bring back to Philadelphia I wasn't able to, and I apologize more than anything to the people of Philadelphia, not bringing that Super Bowl to them," McNabb said during an interview with 97.5 The Fanatic Philadelphia.
Jackson: 'They Think I'm The New T.O.'
DeSean Jackson has had an active offseason in terms of comments to the media.
"They think I'm the new T.O.," he said.
Jackson doesn't think he is necessarily the new face of the Eagles' franchise.
Eagles Could Use More 3-4 In 2010
It's possible that the Eagles could use some more 3-4 looks on defense this coming season.
Philadelphia defensive coordinator Sean McDermott has acknowledged the possible chance in philosophy.
The Eagles base defense would remain 4-3, but they'll likely show more 3-4 looks than we have seen in the past.
Eagles Aren't Interested In Henderson
The Eagles have not had any contact with veteran defender John Henderson, according to sources.
Henderson was cut by the Jaguars earlier this offseason.
Part of the reason is that Philadelphia has faith in 2008 second-round pick Trevor Laws.
"Trevor Laws is doing a great job. He's in great shape right now," general manager Howie Roseman said prior to the draft.
"He's in here every day. I think he's going to do a great job for us [as a pass rusher]."
McNabb Responds To Jackson's Comments
Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb is responding to criticism from former teammate DeSean Jackson.
Jackson told The Sporting News he was "very happy with the decision" by the Eagles to trade McNabb to the Redskins last month.
He also said: "I don't think we lost anything, even with McNabb being gone."
On Saturday, McNabb took the high road in responding to Jackson's comments.
"It's so wild when people get to talking when you're not there, but when you're there everybody loves you," McNabb said.
"So I guess people will go deeper into it than I will. I'm a Redskin, no longer an Eagle. I had 11 great years and I'm moving on with my life, so whoever may say things when I'm gone, more power to them, but it's not making you look like a bigger man."
DeSean Jackson Waiting For Pay Day
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson watched unproven quarterback Kevin Kolb get a contract extension last week.
However, Jackson, normally outspoken, says he isn't going to demand that Philadelphia give him a lucrative deal after two successful seasons.
"I'm not going to make a big deal about it. ... I'm patiently waiting," Jackson told Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Vick Slimmer, Grateful To Be In Philly
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has lost some weight and is grateful that he's still with the team.
Vick enters the offseason as the team's backup (behind Kevin Kolb) and immediately following the season he appeared to have his eyes on a trade.
"I was surprised in the beginning," Vick said about not being traded.
"But after the smoke cleared, I just thought about it and talked it over with my family, and I just said, 'I'm blessed to have a job in the NFL.' "
