April 2010 - Philadelphia Eagles Wiretap
DeSean Jackson: Hit 'Felt Like A Car Accident'
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson said the hit delivered on him by Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson "felt like a car accident" and that he lost consciousness afterward.
Jackson said that he was "getting a lot better" but hadn't started running again, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
Jackson passed the team's post-concussion test and could play against the Colts on Nov. 7 after their bye week.
DeSean Jackson Expected To Return In Week 9
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is expected to return to the field after the team's bye this coming weekend.
Jackson missed Philadelphia's loss to Tennessee after suffering a concussion during a helmet-to-helmet from Atlanta's Dunta Robinson in Week 6.
Vick Will Start For Eagles After Bye
Eagles coach Andy Reid has named Michael Vick the team's starting quarterback following their bye week.
Philadelphia will return to the field against Indianapolis in Week 9.
Kevin Kolb made his third straight start Sunday as the Eagles lost 37-19 to Tennessee.
Vick has missed the team's last three games with a rib injury.
"I've got some time to heal, some more time to get stronger. If they really needed me down the line, I probably could have [played]," Vick said. "If Kevin or Mike [Kafka] would have went down, I could have gotten through."
Vick Will Be Philadelphia's Third QB
Michael Vick will be the third quarterback for the Eagles on Sunday against the Titans.
Vick is dealing with injured rib cartilage and serving as Philadelphia's third quarterback will allow him to rest for another week.
Eagles coach Andy Reid announced earlier this week that Kevin Kolb will start at quarterback against Tennessee.
DeSean Jackson Hasn't Made Much Progress
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson hasn't made much progress since suffering a concussion in Week 6 against the Falcons.
Jackson won't face the Titans on Sunday and is still sore in his neck and shoulder areas.
"Really, it's more the place where DeSean took the hit that's more sore than the head," Reid said. "His mind's clear -- he hasn't passed the test yet but his mind's clear. He feels good in that area, but just the area on the right side where [Robinson] hit him there, so it's a bit sore.
"And then kind of up through his back and neck area, just from the shock of the hit there."
Jackson hasn't passed the first of several concussion exams he must clear before he can practice.
Vick Fully Participates In Practice
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was a full participant in practice with the team on Thursday for the first time since suffering a rib injury in Week 4.
Kevin Kolb will start this weekend against the Titans, but Vick could serve as a reserve.
Vick Practices Fully For First Time Since Injury
Michael Vick was a full participant in Thursday's practice, which was the first time he has done so since his rib injury two weeks ago.
Vick mostly did scout work, however, as Kevin Kolb led the first team under center. Kolb will make his third straight start Sunday at Tennessee.
Titans To Prepare For Both Kolb And Vick
Even though Kevin Kolb is the announced starter this week, the Titans will prepare defensively for Michael Vick as well.
"It definitely creates some difficulties," nickel back Vincent Fuller said. "Kolb throws and he?s mobile in the pocket. He was named their starter because Andy Reid thought he had a good grasp of the system and he delivered the ball well. And then (Vick) ? you?ve seen the highlights of (Vick). Everyone knows what (Vick) can do."
Kolb To Start Third Straight Game
The Eagles will start Kevin Kolb at quarterback for the third straight week when they play the Titans on Sunday.
Michael Vick suffered a rib injury on Oct. 3 against the Redskins and hasn't played since.
Kolb started the season opener against the Packers but suffered a concussion in the first half and was replaced by Vick, who started the next three games.
Eagles Likely To Be Without Jackson
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson hasn't yet been cleared to practice and is likely to miss Sunday's game against the Titans.
Jackson suffered a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit from Atlanta's Dunta Robinson in Week 6 after scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter.
