McNabb Blogs About Philly's Offseason Moves
Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb discussed the team's offseason moves in a blog on Yardbarker.com on Tuesday morning.
"As with every minicamp since I've been in the league, I'm excited about meeting my new teammates, getting to know them and working together on the field. We now have a lot of new, young skill position players and it will be exciting and interesting to see how they become acclimated to what we do here," McNabb wrote.
Philadelphia added Stacey Andrews and Jason Peters to their offensive line, Ellis Hobbs to their secondary and Jeremy Maclin and LeSean McCoy to their offensive attack.
"I'm looking forward to working with a new set of bookends on the o-line. Stacey Andrews and Jason Peters are young, athletic and physical. They will help in both the passing and running game. The same can be said for fullback Leonard Weaver. As for the additions on defense - Ellis Hobbs, Rashad Baker, and Sean Jones - I can't wait to see how Jim Johnson uses all the talent he has at his disposal," McNabb continued.
Sheldon Brown Says He'll Report To Camp
Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown says that he'll report to camp on Friday morning despite his public request for a trade.
"Yeah, I'll be there," Brown said of the team's mandatory post-draft camp.
He added that he'll go about his business in a professional matter, while still crossing his fingers for a trade.
"I didn't become a villain all of a sudden," Brown said. "You never know, if somebody offers something they like, they might listen."
Sheldon Brown Hopes Hobbs Means Eagles Will Deal Him
Disgruntled cornerback Sheldon Brown hopes that the acquisition of veteran cornerback Ellis Hobbs means that the Eagles will grant his trade request.
However, coach Andy Reid claims that the trade for Ellis, with New England for two fifth-round picks, had nothing to do with Brown's demands.
"This gives us some depth at the cornerback position," Reid said. "[Hobbs] has been a starting cornerback for the Patriots for the last 3 years. We got a good quality player. You can't have enough corners in this league. So we wanted to make sure we addressed that and brought in a veteran player.
"This doesn't have anything to do with Sheldon's situation or anything else. So we don't even need to go there with that. This is a quality player that we had an opportunity to get and we chose to do so."
Brown sees things differently, in that now Philadelphia has a replacement for him.
"Over the next few months, if they got an offer, they would be in a position [now] to trade me," he said. "It's a good thing from that perspective. It gives me more hope."

Maclin Will Play Right Away For Eagles
The Eagles were very happy to see Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin on the board when they traded up for the 19th pick, and he'll get the chance to play right away.
"He's just a heck of football player," head coach Andy Reid said, "and on top of that, a quality kid."
Reid added that Maclin will step in and get the oppurtunity to play just like second-round pick DeSean Jackson did last season.
"He should be able to work in and get time in there," Reid said. "I didn't pick him up as a returner. I picked him up as a wide receiver."
