Mora Defends Coaching Record

Oct 31, 2014 7:18 AM

Jim Mora was an acclaimed coach the last time Atlanta played at Philadelphia in the 2004 conference championship game after the Falcons won the NFC South. Two years later, the heat is on Mora, his future with the Falcons uncertain. The Falcons close a disappointing regular season Sunday at Philadelphia, but Mora's fate, and the team's playoff hopes could be decided before the game begins. Falcons owner Arthur Blank said last month a second straight 8-8 finish is unacceptable. When asked about Mora's status after the Falcons' 10-3 loss to Carolina last Sunday, Blank reminded reporters about his November statement. By declining the chance to elaborate, Blank appeared to indicate he still would not accept a .500 record.

Eagles Grab Control Of NFC East

The Eagles were supposed to get buried by December road games against all three division foes, especially with retread backup Jeff Garcia running the offense. Turns out, that challenge was exactly what they needed to grab control of the NFC East. After close calls in Washington and New York, Garcia and the Philadelphia defense made it a clean sweep with a surprisingly easy 23-7 victory over Dallas on Monday.

Cowboys Can Clinch NFC East With Win Over Eagles

Sep 29, 2014 2:29 AM

The Cowboys can clinch their first NFC East title under coach Bill Parcells with a win over the Eagles on Monday. But the focus will likely shift to Terrell Owens facing his former team for the second time this season. Owens was booed lustily by the Philadelphia fans and caught just three passes for 45 yards in the Cowboys' loss to the Eagles on October 9. The temperamental wide receiver often threw his hands up in disgust and vented his frustration to teammates and coaches on the sidelines during the game.
