Mark Davis: Raiders Have Already Won Fight For Los Angeles

Aug 21, 2017 5:16 PM

While the Rams and Chargers moved to Los Angeles, and the Raiders will move to Las Vegas, owner Mark Davis believes his franchise has already won the battle for the area.

“You know, it’s kind of funny,” Davis said. “They’re talking about the fight for Los Angeles. And Raiders fans have been telling me we already won that fight, And that the Rams and Chargers are fighting for the No. 2 and 3 spots.”

The Raiders remain hugely popular in Los Angeles despite staying in Oakland until their stadium in Las Vegas is ready.

“A good portion have come from Los Angeles and Southern California,” Davis said, “Without stepping on any toes, we’re going to market ourselves in Los Angeles area. And San Diego. We’re reaching out to Raider Nation in Southern California. It’s strong there.”

Marshawn Lynch Sits During National Anthem

Aug 14, 2017 11:22 AM

Marshawn Lynch appeared to stage a silent protest in his first game back to the NFL, seating during the national anthem.

Photos show Lynch, who suited up but did not play, sitting on a cooler while holding a banana during the anthem.

"[Lynch] said, 'This is something I've done for 11 years. It's not a form of anything other than me being myself,'" Jack Del Rio said. "I said, 'So you understand how I feel. I very strongly believe in standing for the national anthem, but I'm going to respect you as a man. You do your thing, and we'll do ours.' So that's a non-issue for me."

Lynch was not in the NFL during Colin Kaepernick's kneeling protest against racism and police brutality last season.

Packers Nearly Traded Aaron Rodgers For Randy Moss In 2007

Aug 8, 2017 10:40 AM

In 2007, the Oakland Raiders were close to trading Randy Moss to the Green Bay Packers in a package that would have included Aaron Rodgers. Both Pro Football Talk and Michael Felger of the Boston Herald reported the Packers were ready to trade then-backup quarterback Rodgers for Moss.

The Raiders instead traded Moss to the New England Patriots for a fourth round pick that they used on John Bowie.

Moss agreed to restructure his deal with the Patriots and they went on to go 18-1.

Rodgers replaced Brett Favre as Packers' quarterback after the 2007 season.

The Raiders continued to search for a franchise quarterback until drafting Derek Carr in 2014.
