NFL: Mexico City Game Generated $45 Million

Feb 23, 2017 7:38 AM

Last year's game between the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders played in Mexico City generated $45 million, according to a study commissioned by the NFL.

The 27-20 victory by the Raiders was attended by 76,473 at Estadio Azteca. It was the first NFL game to be played in Mexico since the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals played in the same stadium in 2005.

The Raiders will return to Mexico City next season and host the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

Raiders President: Vegas Financing Isn't An Issue

Feb 10, 2017 8:00 AM

Oakland Raiders president Marc Badain told the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board on Thursday that "financing will not be an issue" as he reaffirmed the team's desire to move to southern Nevada.

Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson withdrew his $650 million pledge last week.

The Raiders also lost the financing of Goldman Sachs, a longtime business partner of Adelson, Badain said "multiple financial institutions" had shown interest in the plan to build a $1.9 billion, 65,000-seat domed stadium that the Raiders would share with UNLV.
