Ronnie Lott 'Optimistic' About Keeping Raiders In Oakland

Sep 28, 2016 9:07 AM

Ronnie Lott is "optimistic" about keeping the Raiders in Oakland as he continues to talk to government and team officials about a way to keep the club from moving.

Lott and Rodney Peete have been talking to Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf and Raiders owner Mark Davis about how they can keep the club where it is as pressure mounts from a Las Vegas bid.

"I have a lot of respect for Mark," Lott said. "We have a great relationship. I think the city and county will find a way to get this done, and Mark and the Raiders can continue to be an important part of this community."

Lott's investment group has a contract that gives them 90 days to work out a deal for the Coliseum, which expires at the end of November.

Bruce Arians: Carson Palmer Was 'Trade Of The Century'

Sep 22, 2016 8:37 AM

Nearly four years after the Arizona Cardinals acquired Carson Palmer for a sixth-round pick and a swap of seventh-round selections, Bruce Arians praised Steve Keim's work.

"Oh God, that was the trade of century by Steve Keim," Arians said.

Palmer went 8-16 over 24 starts with the Oakland Raiders before the deal.

He is tied with Tom Brady for the highest winning percentage (.750) among starting quarterbacks during his time with the Cardinals. During that span, he ranks fifth in passing yards per game (280.4) and eighth in passer rating (95.1).

Las Vegas Stadium Plan For Raiders Clears Big Hurdle

Sep 16, 2016 5:32 PM

A possible move to Las Vegas for the Oakland Raiders cleared a major hurdle on Thursday when a Nevada oversight committee voted unanimously to recommend $750 million in public funding for the project.

The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee recommended raising the hotel tax in the Las Vegas area to help pay for a 65,000-seat domed venue. Proponents still need to win over the governor, the Legislature and three-quarters of NFL owners to make the project a reality.

"We get an NFL team, and that is a significant step forward for Las Vegas and the community," committee chairman Steve Hill said about the project's potential. "Those teams bring the community together. We're going to have people wearing Raiders jerseys and high-fiving each other. ... That's not something you can put a number on."

Jack Del Rio On Going For 2: 'Let's Win It Right Now'

Sep 12, 2016 1:10 PM

Jack Del Rio gambled on Sunday afternoon and it paid off as the Oakland Raiders beat the New Orleans Saints 35-34 on the road.

Derek Carr connected with Seth Roberts for a 10-yard touchdown with 47 seconds left. An extra point attempt could have tied the game at 34, but Del Rio opted to go for two. Carr found Michael Crabtree on a fade route to win the game.

"I was thinking that we're here to win; let's win it right now," Del Rio said.

ESPN Stats & Info tweeted that the Raiders had a 51% chance of winning if they kicked the PAT and a 44% chance if they went for two.

Del Rio replied to the tweet, saying "Good thing ESPN isn't coaching the Raiders."
