Mark Davis Wants To Move Raiders To Las Vegas

Apr 29, 2016 8:43 AM

Mark Davis said Thursday that he wants to move the Raiders to Las Vegas and pledged $500 million toward the building of a proposed $1.4 billion domed stadium in the city.

Davis didn't promise to move the Raiders to Las Vegas, but his pledge to contribute $500 million to a potential stadium is a significant development.

The owner made the comments during a meeting of the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee at UNLV.

The NFL has long shunned Las Vegas, refusing its TV ads and telling players not to make appearances at casinos. However, Davis said he believes owners will approve the move if the stadium is built.

"If we give them an offer they can't refuse, and that's what we're talking about now, I don't see a problem," Davis said.

Aldon Smith Re-Signs With Raiders

Apr 4, 2016 7:22 PM

Aldon Smith has re-signed with the Oakland Raiders.

Smith is currently serving a yearlong suspension that was handed down in November when he violated the NFL's substance-abuse policy, received a two-year contract.

The No. 7 overall pick of the 2011 draft out of Missouri by the San Francisco 49ers, Smith spent time in rehab in 2013 and served a nine-game suspension in 2014.

"I think in his heart he's a good young man," Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said of Smith during the NFL owners meetings in March. "I feel like all of us, we can all work to be better, and in my time around him, I enjoyed being around him. Good teammate. Good to be around. He's a good kid."
