Raiders Interested In Renewing Pursuit Of Jon Gruden

Nov 1, 2014 4:47 PM

Mark Davis may contact Jon Gruden about rejoining the Oakland Raiders as head coach.

"I don't know," Davis said. "He may reach out to me, I may reach out to him. I may reach out to anybody. I'm not going to talk about future coaches."

Davis has previously pursued Gruden, according to Jason La Canfora. Gruden has been offered substantial money and power.

Gruden's primary issues are in regards to the Raiders' stadium plans, how they compete financially and what would be the new front office structure.

Raiders Could Sell For $2B With Potential Move To L.A. Looming

Dec 6, 2014 3:46 AM

The NFL believes the Oakland Raiders could generate $2 billion or more if sold and selling the team reamins the most likely path for a move to Los Angeles.

The NFL will be careful about who gets the Los Angeles market and Mark Davis has limitations in real estate, marketing and overall business expertise.

Convincing Davis to sell the team to one of the NFL's short-list of owners-in-waiting, headlined by Larry Ellison, would be one way to get a team back to Los Angeles.

James Jones Compares Derek Carr To Aaron Rodgers

Sep 28, 2014 1:48 AM

Derek Carr won the Oakland Raiders' starting quarterback job with his poise and has drawn comparisons to one of the NFL's best quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers.

"He's really calm, really cool in the pocket," James Jones said of Carr, per the San Francisco Chronicle. "He acts like he's been there before. I've been calling him mini A-Rod since he got here."

"He's not your typical rookie," center Stefen Wisniewski added. "He's got an NFL quarterback older brother that's been teaching him for years. He understands defenses at a very advanced level more than most rookies would. I think Derek gets way more prepared than most rookies would be."

The Oakland Raiders have named Derek Carr their starting quarterback.

Carr has won the job over Matt Schaub, who the Raiders traded for in the offseason.

"Not an indictment on Matt Schaub, Derek Carr is mature beyond his years," coach Dennis Allen said after Monday's practice. "We feel very comfortable with him helping us win football games. ... Derek is the starting quarterback."

Carr was a second round pick out of Fresno State.

Carr will be the 18th different starting quarterback since 2003.
