Derek Carr is making significant progress in minicamp for the Oakland Raiders and has already bypassed Matt McGloin on the depth chart at quarterback.

The Raiders had believed Carr may need a "redshirt" year.

"We're trying to expedite his progression," Dennis Allen said, via CSN Bay Area. "I like a lot of the things that I've seen out of Derek. He's still got a long way to go, but I like the direction that he's headed."

Matt Schaub is the projected starter for the Raiders, but he could surely be beat out for the job.

Dennis Allen addressed the media following the final practice of the Oakland Raiders' three-day minicamp.

"I think we had a heck of an offseason," said Allen. "I think our guys are battling, they’re competing, they’re working extremely hard. We’ve accomplished a lot in this offseason. We’ve got a lot better as a football team. I'm excited about, we’re going to kick back a little bit, relax for a couple of weeks, and I think we’ve got the type of guys on this football team that are going to make sure they come back to training camp ready to go. It’s an exciting offseason and we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us but we’re excited about it."

Jermichael Finley has met with the New England Patriots and is now drawing interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders.

Finley has consistently received interest from teams, but it is unclear yet if he will be fully cleared by doctors as he recovers from a surgically repaired neck.

The Green Bay Packers still envision Finley remaining with their club if he's cleared.

The Oakland Raiders have 10 players on their roster who earned Pro Bowl berths between the 2008 and 2011 seasons.

Matt Schaub, acquired via trade in the offseason, was a Pro Bowler in 2009 and 2012 before having a difficult 2013.

Maurice Jones-Drew is another high profile former Pro Bowler acquired this offseason.
