The Raiders have promoted assistant Chuck Bresnahan to defensive coordinator.
The move comes just weeks after he was brought back for a second stint with the organization.
Coach Hue Jackson said he had talked to some people outside the organization about the job, but stuck with a coach he had worked with before in Cincinnati.
"The fact that I've had the chance to be in defensive meetings with Chuck and watch him lead the defensive staff made it an easy decision to name him our defensive coordinator," Jackson said in a statement. "I am impressed with his passion, attention to detail and energy. This staff gives us the opportunity to have one of the top defenses in the NFL."

Raiders left guard Robert Gallery has decided to sign elsewhere as a free agent.
Oakland drafted Gallery with the No. 2 overall pick in 2004 and he's started 75 games for the franchise.
"With the end of the league year coming today, and the few conversations I've had with the Raiders and Mr. [Al] Davis, we've come to a mutual agreement that it's time for me to move on with my career," Gallery said.
"I appreciate the start that they and Mr. Davis gave me and I truly have enjoyed my time wearing the silver and black. I wish them well, I thank the fans and I take away great memories of my time in Oakland."
