Raiders Wonder Why Suh Not Penalized For Removing Helmet

Oct 11, 2014 6:42 AM

Raiders coach Hue Jackson asked the NFL why a penalty wasn't called on Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for removing his helmet after he blocked Sebastian Janikowski's 65-yard field-goal attempt as time expired last weekend. Players can be penalized 15 yards for removing their helmets on the field of play. That could have given Janikowski another field-goal try, this time from 50 yards. Jackson said league officials told him that the game was over when Suh removed his helmet, so no penalty was called. "They had blown end of regulation," Jackson said. "... So it's like going to shake somebody's hand. But it looked like it was close. It was inconclusive is what they said."

Palmer: Jackson 'On Our A--' About Penalties

Jul 24, 2014 7:31 AM

The Raiders have been flagged often lately and it has irritated coach Hue Jackson. Oakland enters Sunday's game against Detroit leading the NFL in both infractions (130) and penalty yards (1,116) by a wide margin. "It is a problem," Jackson told Sirius XM NFL Radio this week. "I've got to get it fixed. It's embarrassing." In turn, Jackson has made life tougher on his players during this past week of practice. "Coach was on our a--," Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer said Friday. "It was an intense week. We got back to some of the small things that I think got overlooked when we were on a little bit of a (winning) streak. It was back to fundamentals."

Jackson Says McFadden Isn't Out For Season

May 18, 2014 7:26 AM

Raiders coach Hue Jackson says there has been no change in Darren McFadden's diagnosis and that he isn't yet out for the season. CBS analyst Phil Simms said on Sunday that McFadden has a Lisfranc injury to his right foot, and not a mid-foot sprain, and could be out for the year. "No," Jackson said. "And it's not a season-ender. I mean, that's what we said - it's a sprained foot, Lisfranc, whatever you want to call it. Basically the same thing. I think Darren will be back before the season's over. And when we get him back, we'll get him back."

Raiders coach Hue Jackson still thinks the Raiders are in prime position to attain their goal of being the division champions. "This team is 7-5 and still in first place in the AFC West," Jackson said. "Obviously we share it with somebody now. That's our doing. Everybody's going to write and say what they want and pour dirt on us, but this team will be back. "They'll work harder and get themselves ready to play. I know that without any doubt in my mind." Palmer: Transition Onto Field 'Hasn't Been Easy'

Oct 9, 2014 7:09 PM

The Raiders are 3-1 with Carson Palmer under center, but the quarterback admits that his transition from semi-retired to starter has been tough. Palmer sat earlier this season when he was a member of the Bengals as he requested a trade. "It definitely hasn't been easy," Palmer told WQAM-AM in Miami. "It's been a huge challenge, probably the biggest challenge of my career, but it's been exciting. It's fun just to have a fresh start and really try to get up to speed as quickly as possible. ... We're looking to try to get to the playoffs, but we're taking it one game at a time." The Raiders pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Bengals for the 31-year-old passer after Jason Campbell sustained a broken collarbone in October.
