Raiders Lose Scott For Remainder Of Season

Jul 13, 2014 1:05 AM

Trevor Scott, who is tied for the lead in sacks for the Raiders, was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. Scott tore his ACL while covering a punt in Sunday's loss at Pittsburgh. "I think it's huge," Raiders coach Tom Cable said. "We've been fortunate to not lose too many guys like this. He does do a lot for our football team, playing in base defense as well as third down and [on] a number of special teams. It's a big loss but we're going to have to rally."

Cable: We've Become Bigger Than Our Negatives

Oct 18, 2014 5:15 AM

The Raiders have turned a corner and Tom Cable was asked on Thursday how the players have suddenly bought into his philosophy. "Well, obviously, results," said Cable. "Results are always the exclamation point. But the real truth of it is, is you've got to be more stubborn as a coach than the problem, if that makes sense. We've never ducked trying to change the attitude, trying to change the environment in the locker room and that sort of thing. We've never dodged that. We've dealt with it. We've talked about it. We've learned to communicate, learned to trust each other. You have to do those things. You have to work at those things. They just don't happen. Knowing what the problem is, you have to be willing to stand up to the problem. If you're bigger than the problem, then you can make it happen. If you're not, the problem wins. So, I feel like, as a coaching staff and as a football team, together, that we've become bigger than what our negatives are, and that's why we're succeeding."

Al Davis Favors Jason Campbell?

Oct 18, 2014 7:30 AM

Raiders owner Al Davis likes Jason Campbell and has expressed his desire to have Campbell be Oakland's starting quarterback to coach Tom Cable, reports The San Jose Mercury News. "Mr. Davis likes what Jason has done the past month and doesn't see the need to change when things are going well," a person familiar with the situation told the newspaper. "He thinks Jason is a classic fit for the Raiders style of play." Campbell has led Oakland to three-straight victories. He opened the season as the starter after being acquired in a draft-day trade from Washington. He was benched in favor of Bruce Gradkowski at halftime of the home opener against St. Louis in Week 2. Gradkowski rallied the Raiders to a win over the Rams and started the next three games before being sidelined by a separated shoulder against San Diego.

Raiders Sticking With Campbell

Jul 4, 2014 4:16 PM

Raiders coach Tom Cable has changed his mind and will continue starting Jason Campbell at quarterback. Cable had previously said that Bruce Gradkowski would immediately start again once his right shoulder sprain is healed. "I really haven't wavered, but I do have a belief in me about when you're dealing it and you got the hot hand, and things are going in the right direction for your football team, why would you make a change?" Cable said. Campbell has guided Oakland to three consecutive wins, while throwing just one interception.
