During Tuesday's news conference, Al Davis said Lane Kiffin "complained he didn't have this, and didn't have that," instead of just coaching the team. "I called Lane this morning to inform Lane he was no longer the coach of the Raiders," said Davis. "I could no longer go along with the lying, the propaganda that had been going on with him for months, for years."

Kiffin Fired Without Pay Via Telephone

Oct 31, 2014 4:45 AM

Lane Kiffin was fired by Oakland Raiders' owner Al Davis without pay via the telephone, according to team sources. Tom Cable, the team's offensive line coach, was emerging as the leading candidate to replace Kiffin, a source said. Kiffin and Davis had a falling out on several fronts, starting when Davis believed Kiffin expressed private interest in the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas during the 2007 season. Kiffin also attempted to fire Rob Ryan, but Davis blocked that move. Kiffin was believed to have been given control over his own staff when he was hired.

Oct 29, 2014 1:24 AM

The Raiders crumbled in the fourth quarter against the Chargers on Sunday, surrendering 25 points in the fourth quarter, and Coach Lane Kiffin is once again close to being fired. "Can't look back now," Kiffin said Sunday after Oakland fell to 1-3 on the season. Owner Al Davis is rumored to have been on the verge of firing Kiffin since Week One, but the players appear to support their head coach. "The spark was there the last couple of games," linebacker Kirk Morrison said. "If we win the last two, we're praising our head coach. It's not his fault." "He coaches his butt off every day," tight end Zach Miller said.

Kiffin: I Won't Quit

Oct 1, 2014 10:02 PM

Raiders coach Lane Kiffin says that he will not quit despite numerous reports that owner Al Davis could fire him at any moment, according to Associated Press. "This seems to be a common question here every day," Kiffin said Monday. "I'm going to kind of put it this way: Until I am told by Al Davis that I'm not the head coach here anymore, we're going to keep plugging away the same way we have been.
