Kawakami wrote a column based on a report that said Herrera gave a negative article about Kiffin published by ESPN to a beat writer for the Raiders and prompted other writers about the piece. Herrera called Kawakami a liar when he asked Kiffin a question about the report and confronted him during the press conference. On Tuesday, Kiffin called Kawakami to apologize for the confrontation.

Raiders coach Lane Kiffin says that he will not quit despite numerous reports that owner Al Davis could fire him at any moment, according to Associated Press. "This seems to be a common question here every day," Kiffin said Monday. "I'm going to kind of put it this way: Until I am told by Al Davis that I'm not the head coach here anymore, we're going to keep plugging away the same way we have been.
