Report: DL Kelly Re-Signs With Oakland For More Than $50M
The Raiders resigned defensive lineman Tommy Kelly on Thursday to a seven-year deal that reportedly could be worth more than $50M, according to the Associated Press.
Kelly, coming off reconstructive knee surgery, was set to become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. But the Raiders pre-empted that with a lucrative contract which guarantees Kelly more than $18M.
Raiders Place Franchise Tag On Asomugha
Oakland placed the exclusive franchise tag on cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha on Wednesday, keeping him from becoming an unrestricted free agent, according to an Associated Press report.
Asomugha will be guaranteed at least $9.465M next season but could still sign a long-term deal. Because the Raiders used the designation on Asomugha, he?s unable to negotiate with any other team. The deadline for designating franchise players is this Thursday.
Raiders Re-Sign Fargas
Instead of testing the market as a free agent, Justin Fargas agreed to a new contact with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday.
Fargas finished the season with 1,009 yards on 222 rushes for an average of 4.5 yards per carry. He also ran in four touchdowns.

James Lofton officially joined the Raiders' coaching staff on Wednesday, taking over as the team's new receivers coach, as reported by the Associated Press.
Lofton interviewed last week with Coach Lane Kiffin and Offensive Coordinator Greg Knapp before negotiating a contract with owner Al Davis.
