Raiders Call 'Wildcat' Formation 'Stallion'
The Raiders ran the "Wildcat" formation three times, but unlike the rest of the NFL, they call the formation "Stallion" when a non-quarterback takes the direct snap out of shotgun.
Darren McFadden had 11- and 2-yard keepers while receiver Ronald Curry ran for 1 yard.
Marshall Ready To Test Asomugha
Nnamdi Asomugha is widely believed to be the best cover cornerback in the entire NFL and Broncos' head coach Mike Shanahan considers Asomugha to be the most underrated player he has ever seen in his career.
Brandon Marshall was suspended for the Broncos' opener against the Raiders, so this will be his first chance to line up against the Oakland corner.
"He's only been thrown at once per game. That's his average," Marshall said. "And we threw on his side probably three times in the first game.
"He does a good job of shutting down one side of the field. But as a receiver, you've got to love this type of challenge. This is where you can say, 'I'm good,' when you do it against a good corner, a great corner. So I'm excited."
Raiders' Bush Begins Process Of Becoming A Fullback
Michael Bush officially began the process of moving from running back to fullback Wednesday, two days after Cable publicly urged him to be "open-armed" about his only chance to see the playing field right now.
Bush went through a similar position change in college.
"I came out as a quarterback, thought I was going to play quarterback, but got switched to running back," Bush said.
Al 'Focused On Winning', Not Fassel
Even though the Raiders acknowledge that Al Davis has been in correspondence with Jim Fassel, the Raiders' owner isn't lining up candidates or even thinking about replacing current coach Tom Cable.
"Mr. Davis receives correspondences on a regular basis, be it phone calls, letters, whatever, from prominent people throughout the football world, including Jim Fassel," Herrera said Monday. "That's normal in the course of business in the NFL."
Any decisions about Cable's future won't be made until after this season, at the earliest, Herrera said.
"Mr. Davis' focus is on his team scoring more points and winning more football games," Herrera said. "He knows Jim Fassel quite well and doesn't need an introductory letter from him."
The ESPN report Sunday said Fassel sent Davis a letter expressing his desire to be considered for the coaching job next season. The report cited an unnamed team source.
Pennington's Helmet Radio Broke During Final Drive
During a come-from-behind drive in the final minutes of a 17-15 victory Sunday against Oakland, the coach-to-player radio in Chad Pennington's helmet badly malfunctioned. His ears were invaded by a deafening shriek that he couldn't stop for several snaps.
With more than half of a field between he and the end zone during the critical drive, Pennington also could no longer hear offensive coordinator Dan Henning's voice telling him the plays.
"It just kept ringing!" Pennington said. "When I finally had a chance, I just took it over to the sideline and said, 'Cut the stinking cord!'"
Raiders' Higgins Compares Loss To Feasting At A Candy Store
Raiders' return man Johnnie Lee Higgins had a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown to give the Raiders a 4th quarter lead in Miami that was eventually erased with a Dan Carpenter field goal from 38 yards out.
"It's like you're a little kid at a candy store or the little cupcake bakery," Higgins said. "You can eat all the candy you want, all the muffins and cupcakes you want. I did something great, I'm eating all this candy - mmm, mmm, mmm, I'm hungry.
"But you know, at the end of the day, your stomach is gonna be hurting. ... Later on that night, you're gonna be crying for mama, 'Come save me, because there's something wrong with my stomach.'
"And that's exactly how I feel."
The Raiders have not scored an offensive touchdown in 13 quarters.
Source: Fassel Wants To Coach Raiders
Jim Fassel has reportedly sent a letter to Raiders owner Al Davis expressing his desire to coach the team.
Fassel last worked as offensive coordinator of the Ravens from 2003 to 2006. He was head coach of the Giants from 1997 until the team fired him after the 2003 season.
Russell, McFadden Will Return To Raiders
Both JaMarcus Russell and rookie running back Darren McFadden will be active for the Raiders on Sunday against the Dolphins.

Raiders' Walker Done For Season
Javon Walker said he is out for the rest of the season with a left ankle injury that will require surgery.
Walker told reporters about his season-ended status after Raiders' coach Tom Cable met with reporters. The team will not have comment on Walker's situation until Cable meets again with reporters after practice Friday.
