Morris Claiborne is expected to sign a contract with the New York Jets, according to a league source.
Claiborne would be the second member of the Dallas Cowboys' secondary to leave the club after Brandon Carr agreed to a four-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
The Jets released Darrelle Revis last week.
A judge has dismissed all charges against Darrelle Revis stemming from a February altercation in Pittsburgh.
Revis had been charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count each of robbery and conspiracy, and a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats.
Revis appeared in municipal court Wednesday where the judge decided to dismiss the charges after hearing testimony from one of Revis' childhood friends. The friend told the judge he came to Revis' defense during an altercation and punched the men, knocking them out.
The New York Jets are still searching for a quarterback and have touched base with Jay Cutler.
A visit between the two sides is likely, according to a report.
The Chicago Bears released Cutler last week.
The New York Jets are showing interest in Dont'a Hightower, who is among the best players remaining on the free agent market.
According to a report, the Jets "appear to be leading the pack" to sign Hightower along with the New England Patriots, who could still re-sign the linebacker.
Brandon Marshall has agreed upon a two-year, $12 million deal with the New York Giants.
The New York Jets released Marshall this offseason after two seasons with the franchise.
Marshall, who turns 33 on March 23, now is on his fifth team in 12 seasons.
“I’m tired of watching the playoffs on my couch,” Marshall said in January after the Jets finished 5-11.
Playing for Ben McAdoo’s team also ensures that Marshall will be able to remain in New York, where he tapes his weekly appearance on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL.”
The New York Jets are making all of their draft picks available, including the No. 6 overall selection.
"We're open for business in every round," Mike Maccagnan told reporters Friday at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. "If somebody wants to move up in any round and we have a pick in that round, call us up."
The Jets are interested in acquiring additional picks because they want to rebuild through the draft and they'd like as many choices as possible "to expedite the process."
As of now, the Jets have seven picks, including four in the top 107.
