Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets Agree Upon One-Year, $12M Deal

Jul 28, 2016 1:41 PM

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets have agreed upon a one-year, $12 million deal.

The deal also includes another $3 million in incentives, which could boost the value to $15 million.

The Jets increased their offer Wednesday from $8 million to $12 million and gave Fitzpatrick until 7 p.m. ET to take the deal or the team would be "moving on."

Jets Have Presented Ryan Fitzpatrick With Multiple Contract Offers

Jul 25, 2016 1:31 PM

The New York Jets have presented Ryan Fitzpatrick with multiple contract offers as they continue their stalemate.

The Jets' three-year, $24 million offer (which is below market value but includes $15 million in guarantees) has dominated the conversation for the better part of two months, but the organization has presented at least one other option for Fitzpatrick.

The Jets would almost certainly prefer a one-year, $8 million pact (to keep in line with the $8 million/year average in their well-publicized three-year offer).

Although the organization might be amenable to a one-year deal with a base value of $8 million that includes incentives that would push the max value to $12 million, that still isn't fair for the value Fitzpatrick has given the Jets.

Talks Between Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick Could Drag Into Preseason

Jul 21, 2016 7:45 AM

Talks between the New York Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick on a new contract have stalled and it doesn't appear as though the two sides will negotiate anytime soon.

The current belief is that contract talks could drag into the preseason, which would mean the Jets would be forced to move forward with Geno Smith at quarterback.

Fitzpatrick completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 3,905 yards and a 31-15 touchdown-to-interception ratio last season.

Brandon Marshall, New York's No. 1 receiver, is starting to get worried about his quarterback.

"To be honest, me and Fitz talk every day, all the time, but I texted him the last two weeks three times and there's (been) no response," Marshall said on the I Am Rapoport podcast. "It's not like him. It's scaring me right now. It's scaring me that my guy hasn't texted me back."

Muhammad Wilkerson Agrees To Five-Year, $86M Deal With Jets

Jul 15, 2016 8:10 PM

Muhammad Wilkerson and the New York Jets have agreed upon a five-year, $86 million deal.

For Wilkerson, $36.75 million is guaranteed at signing, including a $15 million signing bonus. The contract, which averages $17.2 million per season, also includes an injury guarantee of $53.5 million.

Wilkerson, 26, received the Jets' non-exclusive franchise tag (worth $15,701,000) on March 1.

Wilkerson was unhappy about the potential of playing under the franchise tag without a long-term deal.

The subplot to his successful career -- 36 sacks in five seasons -- has been an ongoing contract drama.
