Eric Decker Tired Of Ryan Fitzpatrick Contract Situation

Jun 26, 2016 8:49 AM

Eric Decker is tired of being asked about the contract stalemate between Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets.

"On a scale from 1 to 10, I'm at a 10," Decker said. "All offseason, in New York, having to answer questions, it's at a point now where we don't have an answer going into camp on who is going to be the quarterback. Get that timing, build that identity offensively so hopefully something gets figured out."

Decker has said that he hopes an agreement is worked out between Fitzpatrick and the Jets.

However, he admits he must begin focusing on Geno Smith as the team's quarterback.

"That's kinda how our mentality was this offseason," Decker said. "Geno did a great job of his development. We've had a lot of success in areas and we've been stressing throughout this year and that's red zone, third down. He's done a good job of taking that leadership role and really helping us have success. I'm excited about this progression and where he's at."

Muhammad Wilkerson Feels Unwanted By Jets

Jun 16, 2016 10:37 AM

The New York Jets have said they want to retain Muhammad Wilkerson, but the defensive lineman doesn't seem convinced.

"It's shocking. It's frustrating," Wilkerson said. "Because I feel like I've earned it and I deserve it. It would be different if I was just a mediocre player. I feel like each and every week I'm dominating and it's showing. The stats speak for themselves. Basically, what more do I need to do? You know what I mean? ...

"Do I feel that they want me back? As of right now, no. I don't feel like they want me. I'm a talented guy. Everybody knows that. I feel like they're going to get the best they can out of me and just let me go. That's how I feel. Do I like that feeling? No. I'm a New Jersey guy, born and raised and would love to raise my family here."

Wilkerson has been in touch with trainers to monitor the progress of his broken leg, but hasn't made any progress with the front office. He hasn't signed his franchise tag offer, which would pay him $15.7 million this year.

Dee Milliner Hopes Yoga Helps Save Career

Jun 15, 2016 8:31 PM

Dee Milliner has played in just 21 games over three seasons after becoming the 9th overall pick by the New York Jets in 2013.

Milliner's contract expires at the end of the season and he's hoping yoga helps him turn around his career.

"It's just something I said I'd try," Milliner said, via NJ.com. "They actually held it here (at the Jets' facility). I did it a couple times, but then I just started doing it to get my body right."

He added: "It's probably been one of the first times where I had a whole offseason where I can be with the team, and be able to work out and go through practice."

Milliner had five surgeries before he even reached the NFL, including a shoulder surgery that factored into his first training camp.

Jets Have 'No Timeline' To Sign Ryan Fitzpatrick

Jun 15, 2016 9:08 AM

The New York Jets opened their mandatory minicamp Tuesday without Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is still unsigned.

The Jets are in no rush to sign the quarterback and are prepared for the standoff to last until the start of training camp on July 27.

"If it doesn't get resolved in the next two days, it's going to have to, I guess," Todd Bowles said.

Bowles said the Jets "don't have a drop-dead deadline," hinting that he wouldn't be opposed to letting the issue linger.

"The later he comes in -- if he comes in -- the more he has to catch up on," Bowles said of Fitzpatrick. "Hopefully, [it's] sooner than later, but you treat it like an injury. If he's not here, you get other guys ready to play."

Muhammad Wilkerson May Not Report To Jets

Jun 14, 2016 12:09 PM

The New York Jets may have a troublesome situation on their hands with Muhammad Wilkerson.

Unhappy that he still doesn't have a long-term contract, Wilkerson won't sign his franchise-tag tender anytime soon and might not report for the start of training camp in late July, according to sources.

By rule, teams have until July 15 to sign franchised-tagged players to long-term contracts. Failing a new deal, the player must play for his one-year tender. In Wilkerson's case, it would be $15.7 million.

Matt Forte Hopes To 'Turn Back The Time' With Jets

Jun 6, 2016 7:55 AM

Matt Forte says one of the reasons he decided to sign with the New York Jets was the team's training staff, which he hopes will help him "turn back the time" on his career.

"That was one of the reasons for me wanting to come here, because the training room is so good," the 30-year-old running back said. "At this point in your career, health is so important. You're not as young as you used to be, or recover as fast as you used to. But if you get the right (trainers) in there and work with them, you can turn back the time."

Forte totaled 2,035 carries and caught 487 passes during his eight years with the Chicago Bears.

He is also hoping that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's system will help fight his age.

"That's what really good coordinators do," Forte said. "...I'm looking forward to getting back into having a fullback, a lead blocker, a power-type running game," Forte said. "I see myself being used the same way I've always been used in my entire career, in the passing game and in the run game. Whether that's being split out or running routes from the backfield, we've yet to determine that. But I'm pretty sure both will be accomplished."

Jets Not Interested In One-Year, $12M Deal For Ryan Fitzpatrick

Jun 3, 2016 7:19 AM

Ryan Fitzpatrick is reportedly willing to play for $12 million in 2016, but the New York Jets aren't interested in a one-year deal at that figure with the quarterback.

New York's pending three-year offer would pay Fitzpatrick $12 million in the first year has two extra years attached to it in order to lessen the 2016 cap charge for one of the few teams that currently has cap issues.
