Matt Forte Would Be 'Disappointed' If Jets Don't Keep Ryan Fitzpatrick

Apr 27, 2016 8:29 AM

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets remain millions of dollars apart in contract talks, a stalemate that has Matt Forte concerned.

"I'd be disappointed (if I don't) get to work with him (given that he was here) last year and the good job he did," Forte said on CBS Sports Radio Tuesday. "But at the same time, you have to prepare yourself for the worst or if that doesn't happen."

The running back, who signed with the Jets this offseason, added: "I hope he does sign and come back so that we can continue to hold off the momentum from last year that him and Brandon and Eric and all the receivers and the offense had last year. We can take a step in the right direction in that aspect, continuing on with that momentum that they had last year. It's not all said and done yet, so we're still waiting."

Jets Unlikely To Agree Upon Deal With Ryan Fitzpatrick Before Draft

Apr 18, 2016 2:17 PM

The New York Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick are no closer to a deal on a new contract.

The Jets are willing to wait until after the draft to move forward with Fitzpatrick to see what becomes available to them.

Fitzpatrick had a career year at 33, throwing for 31 touchdowns and 3,905 yards.

Fitzpatrick had worked with Chan Gailey previously, which made the transition easier.

Texans Release Brian Hoyer

Apr 18, 2016 11:30 AM

The Houston Texans have released Brian Hoyer.

The Texans did not receive any trade offers for Hoyer and cutting him saves the franchise the risk of owing him $4 million if he's injured.

The Denver Broncos and New York Jets could have interest in Hoyer.

The Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick remain at a contract impasse.

Jets Agree To Acquire Ryan Clady From Broncos

Apr 14, 2016 10:40 AM

The New York Jets have agreed to acquire Ryan Clady and a seventh round pick from the New York Jets for a fifth round pick.

Clady arrived at the Jets complex Friday, underwent a physical and has been trying to reach agreement on a new deal with the team.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson announced his retirement this week and the Jets have targeted Clady since they received word of his plans.

The trade is expected to become official in the next 1-2 days.

The deal will also free up approximately $9 million of cap space, which will put the Broncos in position to acquire Colin Kaepernick.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson Retiring At Age 32

Apr 14, 2016 10:40 AM

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is retiring at the age of 32.

Ferguson, the fourth overall pick in 2006, has no known injury issues.

Ferguson played in every game in 10 seasons with 167 straight starts. Ferguson never missed a practice and never appeared on an injury report.

With a $14.1 million cap charge for 2016, Ferguson was an obvious candidate for a pay cut.
