Darrelle Revis Admits His Body Is 'Breaking Down'

Oct 30, 2016 1:36 PM

Darrelle Revis has admitted that age is beginning to catch up with him on the football field.

"My body's breaking down," Revis said this week.

Revis, 31, had five interceptions and nine passes defensed last season. In six games, he hasn't intercepted a pass and has just one pass defensed this year.

"I brought it on myself by playing the game and the position at such a high level for so long," Revis said.

"You're getting critiqued like a quarterback, and I'm a defensive back," he said. "For what I've done in this league, you get critiqued like a quarterback losing games. If a pass is getting caught, it's just like a quarterback throwing a game-winning touchdown or game-losing interception. That's how it goes."

Ryan Fitzpatrick Calls Out Jets' Brass For Not Believing In Him

Oct 23, 2016 9:08 PM

Ryan Fitzpatrick led the New York Jets to a 24-16 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in a game in which Geno Smith started in his place.

Smith started his first game since Dec. 28, 2014, but he twisted his right knee on a second-quarter sack and left the game. He will have an MRI exam on Monday.

Fitzpatrick had struggled to start the season and called out the Jets' brass for not believing in him anymore.

"The biggest thing in this game, in order to last, is to have belief in yourself, because when the owner stops believing in you, the GM stops believing in you, and the coaches stop believing in you, sometimes all you have is yourself," said a defiant Fitzpatrick, who was benched last week.

"That's kind of something I've had to deal with before, something I'm dealing with now."

Fitzpatrick (9-for-14, 120 yards) admitted he played angry.

"I probably play better as an underdog, pissed off, so going forward, yeah, I'll be pissed off," he said.

Todd Bowles, Mike Maccagnan Still Have 'Full Confidence' Of Ownership

Oct 20, 2016 3:20 PM

Woody Johnson is giving his fully support to Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan despite an awful start to the 2016 season by the New York Jets.

"We've got 10 games to go,” Johnson said in an interview with the NFL Network. “I’m very confident with Todd Bowles and Mike. I think we’ve got an excellent team [of leaders]. I really respect Todd; I know he’s doing what he’s going to do. It’s football. He’s a good coach. I have long-term confidence in him and in Mike and in their teams.

“That’s the way I feel. Onward and outward, we’ve had a tough schedule, it’s no excuse. We’ve been in some games. But Monday night was … we have to be better than that.”

Adam Schefter previously reported Johnson has been upset and frustrated by their struggles.

Jets To Start Geno Smith In Week 7

Oct 19, 2016 11:14 AM

The New York Jets have replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback with Geno Smith.

Smith will start on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens for the first time since Dec. 18, 2014. Smith was the presumptive starter for 2015 but lost his job when he suffered a broken jaw in training camp.

Fitzpatrick replaced Smith and enjoyed a career year, but he has reverted to the mistake-prone ways from earlier in his career.

After the game, Todd Bowles gave Fitzpatrick a vote of confidence, saying, "Fitz will be back next week. ... Fitz is our starter."

Todd Bowles Backtracks On Commitment To Ryan Fitzpatrick

Oct 19, 2016 11:15 AM

A day after pledging support of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Todd Bowles hinted that the New York Jets could start Geno Smith at quarterback this weekend.

Bowles also said it's "definitely possible" that Bryce Petty and/or Christian Hackenberg could play before the end of the season.

Fitzpatrick leads the NFL with 11 interceptions and has led the offense to only three touchdowns during the Jets' current four-game losing streak.

"First of all, after the game, it's always going to be status quo because I'm never going to tell the media anything before I meet with my coaches and my GM and the rest of the staff, so everything is status quo until we have our meeting [Tuesday night]," Bowles said of changing his stance.

Despite Being Pulled, Ryan Fitzpatrick Still Jets' Starting QB

Oct 18, 2016 7:47 AM

Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starting quarterback for the New York Jets despite a four-game losing streak and a disappearing offense.

"Fitz will be back next week," Todd Bowles said after Monday's 28-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Bowles pulled Fitzpatrick with 8:20 remaining in the game and Geno Smith finished it.

"It's not that I have no confidence in Geno," Bowles said. "We have two quarterbacks that can play right now. Fitz is our starter. Anybody back there would've been under duress today."
