Sheldon Richardson Arrested For Allegedly Driving 143 MPH

Jul 31, 2015 3:52 PM

Sheldon Richardson was arrested earlier this month and charged with resisting arrest and several traffic violations, according to court records.

Richardson was arrested in St. Charles County, Mo., on July 14 after officers observed him driving 143 mph, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He had apparently been racing another vehicle on a highway when officers attempted to stop him.

Richardson had two other men and a 12-year-old child in the 2014 Bentley Silver Spur with him. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Officers also found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat.

The arrest occurred less than two weeks after the NFL handed Richardson a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Richardson was a Pro Bowl selection last season for the New York Jets.

Muhammad Wilkerson Will Report To Jets' Camp

Jul 28, 2015 1:24 PM

Muhammad Wilkerson will report to camp as he continues to seek an extension from the New York Jets.

Wilkerson would lose $30,000 per day if he sat out during training camp.

Wilkerson is scheduled to make $6.97 million as part of the team's fifth-year option.

"Frustrated, yeah," Wilkerson said during minicamp. "I thought a deal would be made, but at the end of the day, it's a business. These things take time."

Darrelle Revis Considered Retirement In 2012

Jul 23, 2015 12:57 AM

Darrelle Revis considered retiring at the age of 27 following his torn ACL injury in 2012.

"I did think about retiring," Revis told Sports Illustrated in a cover story released this week. "I had never been seriously injured before, and I didn't know how to handle it."

Revis also revealed in the interview that he underwent microfracture surgery to repair the torn ACL. Previously, it was reported as reconstructive surgery. A microfracture procedure is more complicated than typical surgery and requires a longer recovery time.

The knee injury, suffered in Week 3 of the 2012 season, was one of the factors that prompted the Jets to trade Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Revis didn't feel 100 percent healthy again until Week 4 or Week 5 last season with the New England Patriots.

Jets' LB Coach: Quinton Coples Plays With Very Good Violence

Jul 16, 2015 1:56 PM

The New York Jets have been impressed with the play of Quinton Coples.

Coples was a first round pick in 2012 out of North Carolina, but he's played multiple positions unable to find his spot on the Jets' defense.

"He plays with very good violence," Mark Collins, the team's outside linebackers coach, told NJ.com. "He can set the edge in the run. He can finish plays in the run game. He can push the pocket. He can affect the quarterback. It doesn't mean he's always going to sack the quarterback, but he can affect the quarterback. I definitely think his arrow is pointing up."

Coples registered a career-high 6.5 sacks last season.

Sheldon Richardson Suspend Four Games By NFL

Jul 2, 2015 4:10 PM

Sheldon Richardson has been suspended by the NFL for four games for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

Richardson will be eligible to return to the New York Jets on Monday, Oct. 5, after the Jets' Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins.

"I apologize for letting down my family, teammates, this organization and the fans. However, words aren't enough. This is something that can only be addressed by how I handle myself from this point on," Richardson said in a statement.

"I don't want this to take away from what the team is trying to accomplish. While I won't be there at the start of the regular season, I will do whatever I can to support my teammates until I'm able to return to the field."
