Aug 8, 2014 6:55 PM

The New York Jets are experimenting with Joe McKnight at wide receiver.

McKnight has also played running back and cornerback this season.

Both Clyde Gates and Chaz Schilens suffered concussions in the loss to the Patriots on Thursday, leaving the Jets thin at wide receiver.

Rex Ryan Confident Of Returning To Jets In 2013

Aug 8, 2014 7:20 PM

Rex Ryan was asked to speculate about his future with the New York Jets following their 49-19 loss to the Patriots.

The Jets have been all but eliminated from playoff contention.

“I do,” Ryan said about returning next season. “I think our team will play a heck of a lot better. I don’t think anybody will ask that question by the time the year is over. That’s my personal opinion.”

Sanchez To Remain Jets' Starter

Aug 8, 2014 6:50 PM

The New York Jets will continue to start Mark Sanchez at quarterback.

Rex Ryan seemed to indicate Sanchez would remain the Jets' starter even if Tim Tebow hadn't broken two ribs on Thursday.

“Mark will be the starting quarterback next week and we’ll go from there,” Ryan said.

Sanchez went 260for-36 for 301 yards, but threw an interception and lost a fumble.

“I thought Mark threw the ball well,” Ryan said.

Tebow Has Fractured Ribs

Oct 31, 2014 2:16 PM

Tim Tebow fractured two ribs during a play in the Seattle game two weeks ago, but he was dressed and available for the Jets in a embarrassing loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.

The backup quarterback was active but did not play in the game at quarterback or as punt protector as Mark Sanchez struggled.

Head coach Rex Ryan said Tebow's condition worsened throughout the week, and his breathing was affected.

Cromartie Has Elevated Play Since Talk From Revis

Aug 8, 2014 6:31 PM

Antonio Cromartie has vastly improved his play since Week 3 when Darrelle Revis was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

During a plane ride the previous week, Revis told Cromartie that he was capable of playing at a higher level.

“It took for him to come talk to me as a peer to understand that we can have one of the greatest 1-2 punches at corner for me to end up playing at this level,” Cromartie said. “I thank Revis for coming to talk to me and being a great teammate to make sure I’m playing at a high level.”

Cromartie has been in charge of leading the secondary in the absence of Revis.

“I think the biggest thing that’s changed for me is the leadership role,” Cromartie said. “Just making sure everyone was on top of everything, helping guys study film and knowing how to study film. I think I just took on a role that once (Revis) left, and I wanted to make sure I played at a higher level every single week.”

Jets To Use Three-RB Rotation

Aug 9, 2014 6:10 AM

The New York Jets are moving away from Shonn Greene as their primary running back and will instead rotate him with Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight.

"I think it is the ideal scenario for us because we have three very capable backs," Rex Ryan said. "Instead of just throwing one guy in there all the time to take all the hits and all the protections and the routes and all that. I think when you have three guys coming in, I think that's what the league is going to. You don't have that guy that necessarily does it all every snap anymore the way you used to with a Walter Payton or whatever. You kind of divide that role up. I think for us it's good."

The Jets were able to split up the work Sunday with all three backs active. Powell had 28 snaps, Greene had 26 and McKnight finished with seven.

Oct 30, 2014 4:35 PM

Bart Scott attempted to lead a media boycott of his fellow New York Jets' defensive players following their 27-13 win over the Rams.

Scott told his defensive teammates to answer all questions with "Both teams played hard."

Antonio Cromartie and Muhammad Wilkerson were willing to follow the edict.

Scott eventually spoke to the media and accused them of trying to divide the Jets.

Tannenbaum Not Focused On Job Security

Jul 28, 2014 1:16 AM

New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said this week that he is focused on his work and not his job security amid a 3-6 record.

“I’m not worried about me right now. I’m the last thing I’m worried about,” Tannebaum told the radio station. “I’m worried about this team and anything I can do to help. And each week, we’ve had our challenges.”

Tannenbaum has built a Jets' team that has been unable to remain competitive amid season-ending injuries to Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes.

Ryan Continues To Support Sparano Despite Jets' Offensive Struggles

Aug 9, 2014 8:01 AM

The New York Jets have scored just six points on offense over the past two games, but Rex Ryan continues to back offensive coordinator Tony Sparano.

“I’m happy with the job he’s done,” Ryan said Thursday. “I’m not happy with our results, but to say I’m going to pin that on Tony, there’s no way.”

Brian Schottenheimer was often blamed for the Jets' struggles last season.
