Chris Johnson, Vick, Sanchez Rated As NFL's Worst Contracts

Oct 31, 2014 9:23 PM

ESPN's John Clayton recently wrote about the 10 worst contracts in the NFL.

Chris Johnson, who signed a six-year, $80.96 million contract, ranks first ahead of Michael Vick, Mark Sanchez, Kevin Kolb and Matt Cassel.

Vick is owed $47.5 million between 2013 and 2015, but the Eagles may part ways with him if Andy Reid isn't retained.

Rounding out the top-10 are DeAngelo Williams, Tyron Jackson, Will Smith, Doug Free and Carson Palmer.

For the Raiders, Clayton rates Palmer's contract as one of the worst due to the first and second round picks the team used to acquire him from the Bengals.

Jets Find Formula To Slow Patriots' Offense

Jun 2, 2014 7:36 PM

The New York Jets were successful in slowing the explosive New England Patriots' offense in their overtime loss.

“Rex (Ryan) historically has played Tom Brady and that offense well," said Eric Mangini. "There’s a formula to do it. Look at what happened yesterday: They locked up the outside receivers, and they clogged up the middle of the field and they played a post safety. That’s why New England couldn’t run. And unless guys like Brandon Lloyd can make plays, which he had opportunities to do yesterday, that’s the formula that’s going to keep going. That’s why they need that outside receiver to be able to do something to take the defense out of the middle of the field. That’s the way you do it.”

Lloyd was targeted seven times, but made just one catch.

'Tebowing' Trademarked By Tebow

Oct 31, 2014 10:51 AM

'Tebowing' has been officially trademarked by Tim Tebow.

Tebow was actually surprised when the media relayed the news to him on Friday.

“It did?” Tebow laughed. “I knew that this stuff that had been talked about, but I didn’t know everything had gone through.’’

Tebow doesn’t expect to profit himself off the trademark, but if he does, any money would go toward his Tim Tebow Foundation.

Jets' Defense Better When Not Blitzing

Oct 31, 2014 10:50 AM

Rex Ryan has always liked to use a lot of blitz packages, but the New York Jets have been more successful in 2012 when only bringing four or five rushers.

The Jets are second in the NFL in opponent passing percentage in those situations.

The base defense of the Jets has also forced six interceptions.

Jets Could Give Tim Tebow Carries At Running Back

Oct 29, 2014 12:58 AM

The New York Jets could give Tim Tebow carries as a running back with Mark Sanchez as the quarterback.

“That’s a possibility,” Ryan said Thursday of Tebow at running back. “The thing about Tim … by playing quarterback, he knows all the positions. So can you plug him in at running back? Can you plug him in at tight end? I think the answer is yes.”

Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell are not expected to play on Sunday against the Patriots.

“His skill set would be more based on power,” Ryan added. “He’s not going to be a blazer compared to other running backs, but he's got power.”
