Chris Baker A Jets No-Show

Oct 21, 2014 3:22 PM

Disgruntled tight end Chris Baker was a no-show at the Jets' first voluntary practice at Hofstra University on Monday, according to The New York Daily News. Baker is boycotting the first offseason program because he's unhappy with his contract situation. He claims the Jets failed to fulfill a promise to renegotiate his contract this winter. Coming off his best season, he is entering the third year of a four-year, $6.6 million contract. Baker has requested a trade after his frustration increased when the team drafted a tight end Dustin Keller in the first round of last month's NFL Draft.

Jets' Rookie Cornerback Lowry A Film Wiz

Oct 21, 2014 3:23 PM

Jets' rookie cornerback Dwight Lowery is an outright film junkie. During a pre-draft interview with the Chargers, he recognized a play Norv Turner ran 14 years earlier when he was the Cowboys' offensive coordinator - a play-action pass to the "Z" receiver, who executes a stutter-step move on an 18-yard comeback route. In 1994, Turner called the play for wide receiver Alvin Harper, who made the catch on 49ers' cornerback Deion Sanders. Lowery knew it because he has studied Sanders' career closely, but he refrained from blurting it out to Turner. "I didn't know if it was the right situation to say anything," the former San Jose State standout said at the Jets' rookie minicamp.
