The Jets on Thursday signed cornerback Andre Dyson, who had been with the Seattle Seahawks. Terms were not disclosed.
The 26-year-old Dyson likely will fill the vacated starting spot left by Law, who had 62 tackles and a career-high 10 interceptions in his first and only season in New York.
The brother of Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Kevin Dyson, Andre Dyson missed six games for the Seahawks last season but was in the starting lineup for all three of the NFC champion's playoff contests.
"Andre is a good, young player who has extensive playing experience at the highest levels in the NFL," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said. "One of our priorities heading into the offseason was to acquire a cornerback that had valuable playing experience. In addition, he has played in two championship games and a Super Bowl, and that experience will be an asset to the Jets."

Jets May Select Ferguson
Losing out on Jon Runyan means that unless the Jets add a veteran such as Tennessee tackle Brad Hopkins, who also has visited Detroit, Tampa Bay and Atlanta, they might be tempted to use their No. 4 overall pick on Virginia's D'Brickashaw Ferguson. They also might take North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams or one of the top three quarterbacks, Matt Leinart, Vince Young or Jay Cutler.
Jets Close To Signing OT Runyan
The Jets were awaiting a decision last night from free-agent right tackle Jon Runyan, who appeared to be leaning toward the Jets over re-signing with the Eagles.
If the Jets land Runyan, widely regarded as the top offensive lineman still on the market, it would be their most expensive offseason addition - and it might shed some light on their draft plans.
Tannenbaum Says Jets Will Try To Move Up
Mike Tannenbaum also said the Jets would more likely try to move up in the first round of the draft by trading the 29th pick rather than use it to select a player. The Jets acquired that pick in the three-way trade completed yesterday that sent defensive end John Abraham to Atlanta.
Abraham To Atlanta
Disgruntled defensive end John Abraham may finally have been traded to the team he was hoping, albeit not in the trade route that was expected.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Falcons, Broncos and Jets swung a three-way trade Tuesday in order to make the deal happen that would get Abraham to the Falcons. The deal has been approved by the league, but the parties are all waiting for the Jets to sign the trade papers and make it official.
In the trade, the Falcons send their first-round pick (No. 15 overall) to the Broncos, and Denver turns around and sends its first-round pick (No. 29) and a third-rounder in this year's draft plus a fourth-round pick in 2007 to Atlanta. The Falcons then send that 29th overall pick in the draft to the Jets for Abraham. The Jets thus receive a draft pick two slots higher in the first round than the Seahawks were able to offer in their quest to land Abraham.
Abraham On His Way To Seattle?
John Abraham left Seattle earlier this week.
Whether he will come back on a full-time basis is something the Seahawks and Abraham now have the opportunity to hash out.
According to multiple sources, the Seahawks have reached an agreement with the Jets on trade compensation for Abraham, a defensive end who is New York's franchise player. Seattle would give up its first-round pick (No. 31 overall) to the Jets to acquire him.
Jets Leaning Towards Dealing Abraham To Seattle
The New York Jets want to send disgruntled defensive end John Abraham to the Seattle Seahawks.
A person familiar with the negotiations, who didn?t want to be identified because the talks were ongoing, said Friday the Seahawks have presented the best trade package for Abraham: a first-round pick. Atlanta, which has also been talking to the Jets, is only willing to give up a second-rounder.
The source said the Jets are leaning toward Seattle because they want to get the most value for the three-time Pro Bowl selection.
Jets Acquire Ramsey From 'Skins
The Washington Redskins traded quarterback Patrick Ramsey to the New York Jets on Friday for a sixth-round pick in the April draft.
Ramsey began last year as the starter before losing the job to Mark Brunell and asked to be traded. The Jets were looking for another quarterback to compete with Chad Pennington going into training camp.
Abraham Visits Atlanta, Falcons And Seahawks Frontrunners
Jets defensive end John Abraham, in the third stop on his free-agent tour, arrived in Atlanta yesterday and visited with the Falcons. He dined with team officials and will take a physical today.
Abraham, who also has visited with the Redskins and Seahawks, hopes to wrap up his search for a new team in the coming days. The front-runners appear to be the Falcons and Seahawks, with the Broncos and Raiders showing some interest. The Redskins are out of the hunt.
Jets-Falcons Discuss Abraham Trade
The Atlanta Falcons are working hard to assemble the appropriate pieces of a trade package intended to lure prized defensive end John Abraham from the New York Jets, ESPN and ESPN.com have confirmed through league sources.
One significant road bump to a deal that, despite ongoing efforts from both sides, remains a long shot: The Falcons steadfastly refuse to include two-year veteran quarterback Matt Schaub, the player Jets officials regard as the centerpiece to any deal, in their trade proposals.
It is believed the Jets are seeking Schaub and the Falcons' second-round draft pick for Abraham.
Without the inclusion of Schaub, the backup to Michael Vick and a youngster whose r?sum? includes just two regular-season starts, the swap might never be consummated. But Atlanta in particular continues to pursue it and hopes to craft a package that might attract the Jets, but without having to surrender Schaub or the Falcons' first-round draft choice, the 15th overall selection in the lottery.
"There have been discussions, as in plural, but I don't know that it will happen," said one team official. "But [the two teams] are still plugging away."
Ramsey Deal To Jets Close?
Patrick Ramsey's likely trade to the New York Jets for perhaps a sixth-round choice in next month's NFL draft and a future selection would be the next domino to fall.
Kitna Drawing Interest From Several Clubs
Bengals backup quarterback Jon Kitna has drawn the interest of several teams, including the New York Jets.
Abraham's Agents Look Into Trades
"Change is good and for John Abraham moving forward, change would be good for him," said Rich Rosa, an agent for the Jets defensive star.
