Saquon Barkley is expected to miss the next four to six weeks with a high-ankle sprain.
Barkley suffered the injury during the New York Giants' Week 3 win at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Barkley was on the sideline in a walking boot and crutches during the game.
Barkley has rushed 37 times for 237 yards so far this season.
Saquon Barkley left Sunday's New York Giants-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game with an ankle sprain.
Barkley is scheduled to undergo a number of tests on Monday. The Giants don't yet know how long the running back will be out, but he's confident he'll return.
"I'm not out for the season," Barkley said. "I'm going to do whatever I can to get back as quickly as possible. Not for myself, but for my team. That's what I continue to think about. I caught myself getting a little upset on the sideline just because I wasn't able to be out there with those guys."
Landon Collins, now a safety with the Washington Redskins, says no player should trust Dave Gettleman.
Collins wasn't offered a contract by the New York Giants this offseason.
"No dignity at all," Collins said of the Giants' general manager. "I didn't know what was going on. He's a liar. He lied to everybody. So that's a man I do not trust. I would hope nobody else would, too."
Collins said Gettleman never talked to him during the process of leaving, which is familiar to his current teammate Josh Norman. Gettleman was the GM of the Carolina Panthers when he abruptly pulled the franchise tag from the cornerback.
"When you look at that, it's full of [expletive]," Norman said. "And that's what I feel about the situation and him. If you really want to be honest, every time I see him, I really want to like smash their face in the grass. That’s how I really feel about it."
While Eli Manning has a no-trade clause in his contract with the New York Giants, the bigger issue on a potential trade is a lack of interest from other teams.
At this point, there is no interest from rival teams on trading for Manning.
The Giants very well may have been the last team willing to give Manning an opportunity to play.
The New York Giants have benched Eli Manning as quarterback and will start Daniel Jones for Week 3 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Eli and I spoke this morning," Pat Shurmur said in a release by the team. "I told him that we are making a change and going with Daniel as the starter. I also talked to Daniel.
"Eli was obviously disappointed, as you would expect, but he said he would be what he has always been, a good teammate, and continue to prepare to help this team win games. Daniel understands the challenge at hand, and he will be ready to play on Sunday."
The Giants selected Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the draft out of Duke. Jones had an impressive preseason while Manning continued his long running struggles.
Pat Shurmur won't fully commit to Eli Manning remaining the New York Giants' starting quarterback for Week 3.
“He’s been our starter to this point. I’m not ready to talk about that,” said Shurmur when asked whether Manning will remain his starter.
The Giants drafted Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick.
