Landon Collins: Giants Made Series Of 'Culture Change' Moves

May 21, 2019 9:50 AM

Landon Collins believes the New York Giants allowed him to walk earlier this year because of the organization's "culture change."

Collins is a three-time Pro Bowler and signed a six-year, $84 million deal with Washington in March.

The Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. and pass-rusher Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns this offseason and didn't make any effort to re-sign Collins. They also traded defensive lineman Damon Harrison and cornerback Eli Apple midway through last season, when the team was struggling badly.

"I know with myself, [Harrison], Odell, [Vernon], all we wanted to do was win, and we spoke up because we had to get them to listen to us," Collins said. "We had to get them to get us winning pieces to help us at least be contenders.

"I think we were too vocal, and that platform was bigger than the Giants, you know, and our words stood out more. And ... if it's not good media, they don't want that kind of media."

HBO's Hard Knocks Down To Four Potential Teams

May 14, 2019 8:28 AM

There are only five teams eligible to appear on HBO's "Hard Knocks" this season.

Rules prevent teams with first-year coaches, teams that made the playoffs within the last two seasons, and teams that have been featured on "Hard Knocks" within the last 10 years from appearing on the show.

The San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins are eligible, but a report has indicated that the 49ers won't be featured.

The New York Giants have signed Mike Remmers.

Remmers expects to play right tackle for the Giants. Chad Wheeler and seventh-round pick George Asafo-Adjei were at the top of the Giants' depth chart at right tackle prior to the signing.

Remmers played two seasons in Minnesota after signing a deal with $10.5 million in guarantees in 2017.

One Team Asked Daniel Jones To Work Out As Tight End

May 6, 2019 2:57 PM

One NFL team inquired as to whether Daniel Jones would be willing to work out as a tight end because they felt he wasn't good enough to play quarterback.

Lamar Jackson was asked a similar question last season about playing wide receiver and he's now the quarterback of the present and future for the Baltimore Ravens.

The New York Giants selected Jones with the No. 4 overall pick.

Eli Manning Has Had 'No Response' To Drafting Of Daniel Jones

May 6, 2019 8:22 AM

The New York Giants drafted Daniel Jones last week, but the addition of a first-round pick in the quarterback room hasn't drawn a response from Eli Manning.

"He's had no response," Pat Shurmur said. "I will say this again: I've never been around a person that can stay in the moment better than Eli. And I think that is something that is really, really unique about him. He's staying in the moment."

Manning is entering the final year of his contract.

"He's training to play and have a terrific season," Shurmur said. "He looks really good out here throwing and moving, doing all the things necessary. It's his second year in our system. So he knows what he's doing better than some of the guys teaching it."
