Saquon Barkley 'Willing To Do Whatever' For Giants

May 14, 2018 8:24 AM

Saquon Barkley is listed as a running back, but he's ready to do everything he can for the New York Giants.

"Completely more than a running back," the No. 2 pick said. "... If you look at the past three years and you look at the history of the running back position -- of what [Ezekiel Elliott] and [Le'Veon Bell] are able to do -- when you look at those guys, they are more than running backs. I view myself as more than a running back."

Barkley rushed for 1,271 yards last season at Penn State. He caught 54 passes for 632 yards and added two kickoff returns for touchdowns.

Giants Waive Week 1 Starter Paul Perkins

May 11, 2018 8:25 AM

The New York Giants have waived Paul Perkins, who started at running back in Week 1 last season.

The Giants drafted Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick last month.

Perkins suffered a pectoral muscle injury before the start of the Giants' offseason workout program. He underwent a procedure recently and was waived with a non-football injury designation.

He's likely to go unclaimed given the injury, and could land on the reserve/NFI list. That would end his season.

John Mara: Odell Beckham Jr. Extension Will Take As Long As It Takes

May 9, 2018 12:33 AM

John Mara hopes the New York Giants are able to sign Odell Beckham Jr. to a long-term contract.

"I hope so," Mara said Tuesday at the 25th Anniversary Gridiron Gala held by the United Way of New York City.

"I wouldn't say sense of urgency. The contract will get done when it's supposed to get done," Mara said. "I think that is the [general manager] Dave Gettleman line. I think I'm going to adopt that. All spring, all summer, as long as it takes."

Beckham has been at the Giants' facility for a good chunk of the team's voluntary offseason workout program to date.

Eli Manning: Giants' Offense Looks Good 'On Paper'

May 8, 2018 9:16 AM

The New York Giants should have a healthy Odell Beckham, Jr. and rookie Saquon Barkley next season, which is a recipe for an explosive offense.

The Giants also drafted Will Hernandez and signed Nate Solder to bolster their offensive line.

"We have some players, we definitely have some players," Eli Manning said. "Again, on paper is one thing, but you have to be able to do it on the field and you have to have everybody come together. That's why it's a team. It's not four or five guys who make a difference, it's all 11 and more than that sometimes, both sides doing their parts to find ways to come together as a team to win football games."
