Ben McAdoo Requests Odell Beckham Become Less Distracting

Sep 27, 2016 8:25 AM

Ben McAdoo is requesting Odell Beckham Jr. become less of a distraction to the New York Giants.

In Week 3, Beckham slammed his helmet against the kicking net and also yelled at nobody in particular on the sideline.

McAdoo twice had conversations on the sideline with Beckham during Sunday's 29-27 loss to Washington.

"[Beckham] needs to control his emotions better and become less of a distraction to himself and to his teammates," McAdoo said Monday on a conference call with reporters. "It's our job to help him with that process and maturing."

Beckham almost appeared to be in tears after the game.

Norman To Shadow Beckham As Washington Wants Him To Earn His $75M

Sep 21, 2016 4:17 PM

Josh Norman will shadow Odell Beckham Jr. in their Week 3 matchup.

Norman will go "anywhere Odell goes ... except for slot," the source said.

Washington's coaching staff wanted to make the decision sooner, but it didn't want to upset Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland.

"We're going to let him earn the $75 million," the source said, referring to the five-year, $75 million contract Norman signed during the offseason.

In their matchup in Week 14 of last season, a frustrated Beckham was flagged three times for unnecessary roughness for tussles with Norman, ultimately earning a one-game suspension. Norman also was given an unnecessary roughness penalty in the game. Beckham finished with six receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown.

Victor Cruz On Josh Norman: If You're The Best, Cover The Best WRs

Sep 15, 2016 8:27 AM

Victor Cruz took a jab at Josh Norman on Wednesday for not covering Antonio Brown on Monday night.

Brown had eight receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns as the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Washington Redskins 38-16.

"Especially if he calls himself -- I don't call him this, he calls himself the best corner in the league -- then you have to go cover the best receivers on the other team," Cruz said. "Going in, I thought he was going to follow AB all over the place, but he didn't. So it is what it is. He made his choice."

Norman told reporters Wednesday that he focuses on the assignments given to him by his coaches.

"I'm doing what I'm asked to do and doing it to the best of my abilities, trying to be a cerebral assassin on details and assignments, which my coaches ask me to do," he said. "Trying to be a technician of the game. Anything I can do, I'm all for it. Whether I travel or not travel to one side, left side, who really cares? Just get the job done. Whoever gets the job done, so be it.

"All this talk about this guy matchups up this guy, who really frickin' cares? Come out with a W and win the game. That's hogwash. That's what people talk about. Of course we want to go up against each other because our competitive egos are through the roof. It's one of those things that comes with the territory."

Odell Beckham: I Don't Know If I'm Liked 'Anywhere'

Sep 8, 2016 5:27 AM

Odell Beckham, Jr. doesn't think he is well-liked "anywhere" around the NFL.

"I don't know if I'm necessarily liked anywhere, really," Beckham said Wednesday when asked if there was any lingering resentment among the Dallas Cowboys following his celebrated one-handed catch. "It just is what it is when we're on the field; off the field, there's no hard feelings for me anywhere. At the end of the day, it's football.

"I can't control who resents, likes, doesn't like, in a sense. We just go out there, handle our business, play football and keep it moving from there."

The New York Giants will open the season on Sunday against the Cowboys and Beckham will be matched up with cornerback Brandon Carr.

Two of Beckham's three least productive games last season actually came against Carr, with the Cowboys limiting him to nine catches for 79 yards in the two meetings.

"It just happened that way," Beckham said. "First game last year was in Dallas' stadium and, like I said, we really didn't hit the ground running. It was kind of lackadaisical and we were going through the motions. Make sure this year we hit it and get it right."
