Jason Pierre-Paul Files Suit Against Adam Schefter, ESPN

Feb 26, 2016 12:09 PM

Jason Pierre-Paul has filed a lawsuit against Adam Schefter and ESPN for posting his medical records on Twitter. Pierre-Paul is alleging a violation of his privacy and Florida's medical records statute.

Pierre-Paul is asking for $15,000 in damages.

The suit alleges that Schefter violated Florida statute § 456.057, which basically says that a patient’s medical records cannot be given to or discussed with anybody not involved in their care.

Schefter made a curious decision to tweet photos of the chart. He says he did so to provide incontrovertible proof of Pierre-Paul’s amputation.
