Victor Cruz: Patriots Don't Want To See Giants In Super Bowl

Dec 29, 2016 7:32 AM

The New England Patriots and New York Giants are both in the playoffs for the first time since 2011, the same year they met in the Super Bowl for an epic rematch.

"They don't want to see us," Victor Cruz said. "I'm sure if you ask them (they'd say) they'd play anybody, they don't care. I'm sure they don't want to see us. That's for sure."

Giants Will Play Starters Against Washington

Dec 28, 2016 11:08 AM

The New York Giants are locked into the No. 5 seed in the NFC, but plan to play their starters in Sunday's season finale against Washington.

Washington can reach the playoffs with a victory as long as the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers don't tie.

Sunday night's game between the Lions and Packers is for the NFC North title and a guaranteed playoff berth. If Washington loses, the loser of the Lions-Packers game will still make the playoffs as the No. 6 seed.

"Yes. Everyone is going to play Sunday," Rashad Jennings said of the Giants.

Odell Beckham Fined $18K For Cleats Honoring Craig Sager

Dec 22, 2016 8:27 AM

The NFL fined Odell Beckham, Jr. for wearing cleats in honor of the late Craig Sager last weekend.

Beckham auctioned the shoes off for charity after the game.

"I got fined 18k for Craig Sager cleats that were auction off the cleats to the highest bidder and donating the proceeds to his cancer research," Beckham wrote on Instagram. "18k like it's nothing to them, no warning to take them off or anything noTHING!"

The NFL allowed players to wear tribute cleats for charity earlier this season but not during this past week's games.

Only Steelers Rank In Top-10 In Offense, Defense DVOA (Infographic)

Dec 21, 2016 10:38 AM

The NFL has very teams this season that excel in all facets of the game. Further evidence of this issue shows itself in the fact that there is only one team ranking in the top-10 in both Football Outsiders' Offensive and Defensive DVOA: the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are 9-5 after winning five straight games and must beat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 to ensure their place in the playoffs. Pittsburgh ranks third in total DVOA and first in Weighted DVOA.

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs ranked in the top-10 on both sides of the ball. The Chiefs are the closest team to joining the Steelers in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive DVOA at 13th and 12th.

The Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots rank first and second overall in DVOA as they rank second and third, respectively in Offensive DVOA but 20th and 19th in Defensive DVOA. The Atlanta Falcons rank first in Offensive DVOA, 27th in Defensive and fourth overall. The Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders have similar splits as the Cowboys and Patriots, while the Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants are the inverse of those teams with top-5 defenses and offenses below the NFL mean.

NFL Fines Giants $150K, Ben McAdoo $50K For Walkie Use

Dec 20, 2016 6:11 PM

The NFL fined the New York Giants $150,000 and coach Ben McAdoo $50,000 for the illegal use of walkie-talkies during their Week 14 10-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the league announced Tuesday.

In addition, the Giants' fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft will fall a maximum of 12 spots in the fourth round and could drop below compensatory picks, depending on the spot the team will select from.

Coaches are not allowed to hold any two-way radios during a game because they are not capable of being cut off with 15 seconds remaining on the play clock.

McAdoo was seen on the sideline holding the walkie-talkie when it was apparent the team was having trouble getting plays in to Eli Manning.

Eli Manning Downplays Slump, Says He 'Can Get Hot'

Dec 14, 2016 10:36 AM

Eli Manning has thrown for fewer than 200 passing yards in his last three games and has completed just 56 of 94 passes.

However, the veteran quarterback isn't concerned about a possible slump.

"I know I can make plays," Manning said. "I know I can get hot. I have to keep working. I'm confident that I can go out there and have a big game."

Manning connected with Odell Beckham, Jr. on a 61-yard touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in a 10-7 win.

"I have to play better," he said. "I know that. I have to find completions and protect the ball better. I have to find completions, score points and hopefully win. I know we have to clean some things up."
