Be The GM: Robert Griffin III Or Jason Pierre-Paul

May 18, 2014 5:11 AM

Robert Griffin III takes on Jason Pierre-Paul in the final second round NFC matchup of our 'Be The GM' series. Griffin defeated Dez Bryant in the first round with 85 percent of the vote, while Pierre-Paul narrowly got past LeSean McCoy with 57 percent.

Griffin exceeded the most bullish expectations during his rookie season, completing 258 of 393 pass attempts for a passer rating of 102.4 with 20 touchdowns coming against just five interceptions. Griffin also carried the ball 120 times for 815 yards and seven touchdowns, becoming the type of dual-threat quarterback that makes it seem like you're watching a video game.

Griffin had a 9-6 record as a starter as he led the Redskins back into the playoffs.

The only issue with Griffin, who won't turn 24 until February, is his long-term health. Griffin tore his ACL and LCL last season and we will need to see if he regains his prior form physically and whether he can make adjustments to his style of play to avoid injuries without compromising the aspects of his game that make him great.

Pierre-Paul is entering his fourth NFL season, but he won't run 25 until the end of February. Pierre-Paul immediately showed promise at getting to the quarterback in his rookie season and then completely broke out in 2011 with 16.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Pierre-Paul's production trailed off considerably last season as he battled persistent back issues that eventually led to surgery in June.

Assuming he returns healthy, Pierre-Paul can return to overwhelming offensive linemen with his combination of size, strength and quickness.

David Wilson To Start At RB For Giants

Oct 31, 2014 2:15 PM

David Wilson will start at running back for the New York Giants in Week 1.

Wilson and Andre Brown will split carries in 2013.

"We expect [Wilson] to be our starter, and be in the backfield with Andre Brown, who had a terrific season going last year until he got hurt," Reese said. "[Brown's] had the injury bug a little bit since he’s been in the league. But if he can stay healthy, and David Wilson comes on like we expect him too, we think we can have a pretty dynamic backfield."

Cowboys, Pats, Redskins, Giants, Texans In Top-5 Most Valuable Teams

Nov 1, 2014 11:51 PM

The Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable team in the NFL, according to Forbes for the seventh straight season.

The Cowboys are worth $2.3 million despite not winning a Super Bowl since 1996.

The New England Patriots ($1.8 billion), Washington Redskins ($1.7 billion), New York Giants ($1.55 billion) and Houston Texans ($1.45 billion) round out the top five.

The Cowboys became more valuable in 2013 due to a $400 million naming rights deal with AT&T.

Be The GM: LeSean McCoy Or Jason Pierre-Paul

Oct 30, 2014 11:29 AM

The New York Giants have been Eli Manning's team since the 2005 season when he became the full time starter and even though he has won two Super Bowls, he is now 32 years old and hasn't been as effective of a quarterback in the regular season as he has in those two playoff runs. Manning ranks 17th in active career passer rating and those two factors led us to pick a 24-year-old pass rusher in Jason Pierre-Paul.

For the Philadelphia Eagles, the decision to pick LeSean McCoy was easy and obvious to be matched up against Pierre-Paul in an NFC East "Be The GM" showdown.

McCoy just turned 25, meaning he is entering his prime as a running back. McCoy was on his way to rushing for over 1,000 yards for the third straight season before suffering a concussion in November that kept him out of the final four games. McCoy's yards per attempt dropped from 5.2 and 4.8 in 2010 and 2011 to 4.2 in 2012, but an injured and struggling offensive line and uncertainty at quarterback were undoubtedly contributing causes.

Similar to Marshall Faulk and Brian Westbrook, McCoy is an excellent dual-threat running back due to his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. McCoy has caught between 48 and 78 balls over the past three seasons.
