Manningham Now 50-50 On Return To Giants

May 17, 2014 10:52 PM

Mario Manningham insists that he never said there was a "75 percent" chance he is leaving the Giants in free agency. During an interview with WFAN radio, Manningham placed the odds of him remaining with the Giants at "50-50" and said he'd like to remain with the team. He added that he doesn't know where rumors of him going to the Buccaneers came from. "It is 50-50 percent chance," the free agent said. "We are not sure what is going on right now. We are going to take it slow and see what is going on and let the smoke clear a little bit, you know the combine and free agency and everything coming up. Just never know where I am going to end up at."

Manningham Leaving Giants For Buccaneers?

Sep 13, 2014 3:24 AM

Sources believe there is virtually no chance Mario Manningham will return to the Giants for the 2012 season. Manningham, one of New York's Super Bowl heroes, is expected to follow former Giants assistant Mike Sullivan to Tampa Bay. Sullivan, who was the quarterbacks coach with the Giants, has been named the offensive coordinator of the Buccaneers. Giants general manager Jerry Reese recently conceded that there's a "75 percent chance" Manningham won't return to the team.

Umenyiora Won't Be Surprised If Giants Trade Him

Sep 20, 2014 9:23 AM

Osi Umenyiora believes that Super Bowl XLVI may have been his last game with the Giants. Umenyiora said on ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" that he wouldn't be surprised if he and the Giants go their separate ways this offseason. The defensive end was extremely unhappy with his contract last year, but managed to put that aside to have another solid season. "We're just going to have to wait and see," Umenyiora said. "I can see it going either way. I can see where they would keep me, I can see where they would trade me, because it makes sense both ways. So hopefully things will work out in my interest. I know the team is going to do what's best for them. They've always made the right decisions for that organization. Whether that's keeping me or trading me, I'd love to stay, but at the end of the day I understand it's a business and hopefully things will work out."

Eli's Season Turned Into Graphic Novel

Oct 10, 2014 11:25 AM

The Super Bowl champion New York Giants and quarterback Eli Manning have been immortalized in the pages of a graphic novel. "G-Men" offers a game-by-game account of New York's crowning, ripped straight from the pages of Eli Manning's personal journal. "I got the idea originally because I wanted to do something for my kids," the creator said. "I have two little boys, and I wanted to make a comic book for them, so I started practicing on Giants pictures. And if nothing else, this team provides dramatic storylines."

Rolle: Media Turned New York's Confidence Into Cockiness

Feb 15, 2014 1:14 PM

The Giants expressed confidence during their run to the Super Bowl XLVI title, something Antrel Rolle says was turned by the media. "I've always understood that the media doesn't play the game of football," Rolle said. "All they can do is write. No matter what, they have no say-so in what the outcome is going to be when the game is played. If you have a confident football team, that's what you need in this league. ... We (weren't) saying we can't be beaten; we (weren't) saying we're the best in the NFL. What we (were) saying is, 'Yeah, we're confident in our approach. We're confident in what we have here as a unit.' "People are going to take it and twist and turn it around into whatever they want to write. But, at the end of the day, you need to have a confident team to play in this league." The Giants could have been less adamant about their confidence, but Rolle says that isn't how the team is wired. "I don't think there's anything wrong with what we said," Rolle said. "Myself, in particular, they asked me how do I feel about (the Super Bowl). And I said we wouldn't board the plane if we didn't expect to win the game. Now, I can't think of one team or one individual that would get on the plane the week of Super Bowl thinking they're going to lose the game. That guy's got to keep his (butt) at home. That guy is not going to get on that plane. Our coaches and players understand that. And the media, they understand that also. But it's what sells. ... "That's my mindset. That's me as an individual. Not everyone has to like it. I know what has gotten me to this league, what has gotten me to be the player that I am. And it is my confidence -- in my play and in my teammates I have next to me."

Jacobs Open To Restructuring Deal With Giants

Sep 21, 2014 11:59 AM

Brandon Jacobs wants to remain with the Giants and is open to restructuring his contract for a second straight year as long as it is "fair." Jacobs is due a $500,000 roster bonus and is scheduled to make $4.4 million in the final year of his contract. Last summer, Jacobs restructured his contract to help the Giants re-sign Ahmad Bradshaw to a four-year deal worth $18 million. "As long as it is fair," Jacobs said. "I just want everything to be fair. I feel like I put a lot of hard work and dedication into what I do as well and whatever their plans are to try to keep me around here, hopefully we can get it discussed and get things figured out because this is where I want to be."
