Arrington Is "Doing Great"

Nov 14, 2014 7:23 AM

Former Washington Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington was in good spirits and stable condition yesterday after crashing his motorcycle on Route 50 Monday, but remained under observation at Prince George's Hospital Center, according to his agent, Carl Poston. Poston, who visited Arrington in the hospital last night, said the former Pro Bowler would be held for 72 hours from the time of his arrival Monday morning to ensure there were no infections and that his vital signs remain strong. Poston said that Arrington, taken with the second overall pick in 2000, fractured his forearm but did not break his leg, as Poston believed was the case Monday. Arrington's leg was in a cast, however, because of a severe laceration. He was not being treated for head trauma, Poston said

Former Redskins and Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle crashed on a highway ramp, police said. Arrington lost control and hit a guardrail, Maryland State Police Sgt. Russell Newell said. Arrington, who will turn 29 on June 20, was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved in the accident, Newell said. Arrington was issued two citations -- one for operating the motorcycle without a proper license, and one for the crash itself.

Strahan: I'm The Best

May 25, 2014 8:57 PM

After missing half of last season with a right foot sprain, Michael Strahan doesn't believe he will come back and be his same old self this season. He believes he'll be better. "I feel like I can have my best year this year," Strahan said during the Giants' three-day minicamp that concludes today. "I feel great. When I hurt my pec (in 2004), I came back, made the Pro Bowl, played great, and I wasn't anywhere near as strong as I am now and probably wasn't in the shape I'm in now. And I have two years more experience added under my belt."

Shockey Shows Up At Giants' Workouts

Nov 14, 2014 7:23 AM

Jeremy Shockey made a rare appearance at Giants' voluntary offseason workouts this week, but the tight end cautioned not to read too much into it. "I'm glad I'm here and I enjoy it, but I hope people get used to it because next year it's going to be an issue again, and again the next year," he said. Shockey has always taken the "voluntary" part of the offseason workout program to heart, and has been roundly criticized for following his own conditioning program at the U. of Miami. This year, he decided to join the rest of the Giants, and on Friday responded to critics who have said he has placed his own priorities above the team's.

Giants' LB Pierce Says He Isn't Fighting His Pit Bulls

May 17, 2014 10:56 PM

One of Antonio Pierce's hobbies on the Giants official website is breeding pit bulls. But according to Pierce, his interest in pit bulls is limited to an appreciation of the animals, not an exploitation of them. "Anybody who fights pit bulls is a punk," the middle linebacker said yesterday after the team's organized team activities workout at Giants Stadium. "It gives my dogs a bad rap. Everybody loves my dogs because they're good dogs. So of course I'm not pleased with it." Pierce refused to comment specifically on Vick, who has said he was unaware of the activities taking place on the property Vick owned in Virginia. But Pierce said he's been following the case and said, "None of it sounds positive. If (the evidence proves Vick was involved), then (prosecutors and the NFL) need to do what they need to do." Pierce said he owns four pit bulls and has sold several to his teammates and friends. But he said he has never sold one unless he was certain the dog wouldn't be involved in any kind of illegal activity. "Mine are all for show, for looks. They're all good-looking dogs and they're registered," Pierce said. "I only sell them to people I know. There's no Web site called antoniopiercepitbulls.com. "If I don't know you, you don't get one of my dogs."
