"The Bachelor" Retires From CFL To Pursue Broadcasting Career

Former Giants and 49ers quarterback Jesse Palmer has retired from the CFL to pursue a broadcasting career in the United States. The Ottawa native informed the Montreal Alouettes of his decision this week, coach and GM Jim Popp said Thursday.

Chiefs Trade Tynes To Giants

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Tuesday that the club has traded K Lawrence Tynes to the N.Y. Giants for future considerations. Tynes (6-1, 202) played in 48 regular season games and one postseason contest in three seasons (2004-06) with Kansas City. He converted 68 of 87 field goals (78.2%) and 137 of 141 PATs for 341 points. He ranks fourth in Chiefs history with 68 career field goals and is fifth in team annals with 136 PATs. Tynes stands fourth in team lore with six field goals of 50+ yards, booting two each the last three seasons.

NFL Sells 40,000 Tickets For Wembly Game In 90 Minutes

The first 40,000 tickets made available for the NFL's game in London were sold in 90 minutes on Wednesday, the league said. Tickets for the October 28 game between the Dolphins and Giants were made available at first only to fans in Europe. The game, to be played at London's 90,000-seat newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium, marks the first time the NFL has played a regular season game overseas. "This is a game for hard-core fans from all over the world," Alistair Kirkwood, managing director of NFL United Kingdom, said in a statement.

Receiver Plaxico Burress showed up for voluntary conditioning on Tuesday. "I'm not trying to make a statement," Burress said Tuesday after catching passes from Manning. "I want us to be better, and I want him to reach his full potential, which I think would be great. I want to help him out. We're here, we're willing to work."
