Bill Belichick Concerned By Patriots' Running Back Situation

Oct 31, 2018 1:46 PM

Bill Belichick is concerned about the running back position in New England.

The Patriots' leading rusher in Monday night's win over the Buffalo Bills was wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.

In a 19-point win, the Patriots ran the ball 25 times for 75 yards.

"We just got back a few hours ago, so we'll kind or recalibrate here and see where we're at relative to who's available and how we want to structure our game plan and what we want to do there," Belichick told WEEI. "That's one of the things we're going through (Tuesday). But it's a consideration, and I'd say it's a concern."

James White has taken a majority of the snaps with Sony Michel out with a knee injury.

Rob Gronkowski Patient Not Receiving Red Zone Targets

Oct 18, 2018 12:54 PM

Rob Gronkowski has only received one target inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

“First off, I’ve got to get open,” Gronkowski said. “I’ve got to get out there and run better routes and then I’ll start seeing more targets. . . . Whatever I have to do to help out the team, even if the ball’s not going my way, I’ve just got to do it and just keep grinding.”

In 2017, including the playoffs, Gronkowski was targeted 11 times inside the 10-yard line, resulting in six touchdowns. He drew 11 more targets between the 11 and 20-yard line, catching six of them.

“Whatever play is called, we’re scoring points,” Gronkowski said. “We’re scoring down there.”

Breeland Speaks Admits Letting Tom Brady Go Thinking He Threw Ball

Oct 15, 2018 11:28 AM

Breeland Speaks was worried about being called for a roughing the passer penalty on Tom Brady when he let him go of his grasp on a key play that resulted in a rushing touchdown for Brady.

Brady scored on a four-yard scramble.

Speaks had his left arm around Brady's midsection behind the line of scrimmage, but he let him go thinking Brady threw the ball.

"I thought the ball was gone," Speaks said. "Because I thought the ball was gone, I didn't take him to the ground. It sucks, it sucks. You're supposed to finish plays like that."

NFL officials threw 53 penalty flags for roughing the passer over the first six weeks of the season, compared with 38 in 2017 and 32 in 2016 over the same stretch of games.

Rob Gronkowski Credits Use Of Tom Brady's Diet For Helping Career

Oct 10, 2018 3:43 PM

Rob Gronkowski talked about his adoption of the same type of diet as Tom Brady.

"I'm not super, super crazy, but I'm pretty crazy about [his diet]," Gronkowski said. "I like to go with mostly plant-based diet. I'd say about 75% and then the other 25%, just keeping it clean but eating whatever. Always making sure I get my fruits and veggies in every day."

Gronkowski added: "I've definitely taken advantage of those opportunities and had plenty of crazy meals I never thought I'd have, never thought I would enjoy ... For example, his avocado ice cream. It's delicious."

Gronkowski has also worked with Alex Guerrero on some of the same pliability exercises made famous by Brady.

Tom Brady Throws 500th Career Touchdown

Oct 5, 2018 8:26 AM

Tom Brady became just the third quarterback in NFL history to throw 500 career touchdowns passes in the second half of the New England Patriots' 38-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night.

He reached the mark on a 34-yard connection with Josh Gordon in the fourth quarter.

"Things like that -- milestones and so forth -- there are so many people who contribute," Brady said about the achievement after the game. "So I just think of all the people that have really worked hard. The quarterback doesn't throw it to himself. He needs people who catch it and block and defense to make plays and coaches that coach. These are all great team awards. So, pretty cool."

Gordon was the 71st different receiver to haul in a scoring pass from Brady, which broke Vinny Testaverde's previous NFL record of 70.
