The Minnesota Vikings and Stefon Diggs have agreed to a five-year extension worth $72 million. Diggs will receive $40 million in guarantees.

Diggs caught 64 passes for 849 yards and eight touchdowns in 2017. He has 200 receptions for 2,472 yards and 15 touchdowns in 40 career games.

"I love being here," Diggs said earlier this offseason. "... I love playing with the Vikings. I started here, and I've been happy all my time here. I love my teammates, I love my staff. There's no place I'd rather be than here."

Tony Sparano died Sunday from arteriosclerotic heart disease, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner.

An assistant with the Minnesota Vikings the last two seasons, Sparano went to a hospital last Thursday after complaining about chest pains and was released Friday after undergoing tests.

Sparano was 56 years old.

Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach Tony Sparano died unexpectedly at the age of 56, the team announced.

Sparano had complained about chest pains and went to the hospital Thursday, according to a source. He underwent tests and was released Friday. The source said Sparano's wife found him unconscious Sunday morning as they prepared to leave for church but could not revive him.

"I am at a loss for words with Tony's sudden passing," Rick Spielman said in a statement. "Tony loved the game of football and his players. More importantly, he was a strong man of faith who treasured his family. My heart is with the Sparanos today. As an organization we will support them in whatever ways we can."

Sparano worked for nine teams over 19 seasons, including stints as a head coach with the Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders.
