Zimmer: Vikings Have No Plans To Trade Adrian Peterson

Mar 25, 2015 1:55 PM

Mike Zimmer has reiterated the Minnesota Vikings' position that they aren't planning on trading Adrian Peterson.

Zimmer also clarified a comment he made to Pro Football Talk earlier in the offseason, saying, “I never once said I would accommodate him” by trading Peterson if that’s what he really wanted.

“I’m not going to speculate on what he wants or doesn’t want,” Zimmer said. “Adrian’s under contract for three more years with us and that’s why you sign these contracts. That’s why you get these big bonuses, you know?”

Peterson has three seasons remaining on the six-year, $96 million contract he signed in 2011.

“We have no plans to trade Adrian,” said Zimmer.

Agent: Adrian Peterson Wants To Leave Vikings

Mar 25, 2015 12:08 PM

Adrian Peterson's agent admitted publicly that he'd like to leave the Minnesota Vikings.

Ben Dogra hadn't spoken publicly on the standoff between his client and the Vikings in nearly three months.

When asked if he thought Peterson would return to Minnesota he said in full: "I don't think it's in Adrian's best interest to play in Minnesota. Why would it be?"

The Vikings have said they will not release Peterson, meaning a team would have to trade for him.

Adrian Peterson Prefers To Leave Vikings

Mar 22, 2015 6:51 PM

Adrian Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, confirmed Friday that he declined an invitation to meet with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman at the owners meetings after Spielman informed him Wednesday that the Vikings would not release Peterson. The news, which was first reported on Friday by Yahoo! Sports, is another sign that the Vikings and Peterson remain at odds.

A league source said Peterson's preference is to play for another team in 2015.

Peterson is under contract through 2017, and is scheduled to make $12.75 million this season. The Vikings appear willing to pay Peterson his salary for 2015, and a restructured contract would likely put some guaranteed money in Peterson's bank account in place of a deal that currently has none remaining.

Adrian Peterson Still Has Concerns With Vikings Following Meeting

Mar 4, 2015 8:30 PM

Adrian Peterson had a four-hour meeting with Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman on Wednesday.

Peterson issued a statement suggesting his concerns were not resolved during the sit down.

“I appreciate Rick [Spielman] and Coach [Mike] Zimmer coming down to see me today,” Peterson said in a statement issued to Josina Anderson of ESPN. “We had a great dialogue and they were able to understand where I was coming from and concerns my family and I still have. We respect each other and hopefully the situation can pan out so that everyone involved is content.”

Peterson believes Vikings' COO Kevin Warren worked with the NFL to keep him off the field for the 2014 season following his child abuse charges.

Cardinals, Colts, Cowboys, Chargers, Bucs On Adrian Peterson's List

Mar 4, 2015 4:59 PM

Adrian Peterson would consider a restructuring of his contract to help facilitate a trade.

"All the options are open," Nelson Peterson said of those scenarios. "There's no doors closed on anything at this time. … Adrian will come back from this with a vengeance. He plays hard anyway, but he's got an extra chip on his shoulder. He will bounce back from this."

Peterson would prefer a move to the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers or Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings are meeting on Wednesday to discuss next steps.
